How to play Indonesia board game - Full teach - Peaky Boardgamer

Indonesia is a game in which two to five players build up an economy, trying to acquire the most money. Players acquire production companies, which produce goods (rice, spices, microwaveable meals, rubber, and oil), and shipping companies, which deliver goods to cities. As cities receive goods, they grow, increasing their demands. Production companies earn money for each good delivered to a city, up to the city's capacity, but they must pay shipping companies for the distance traveled, even if they end up losing money. Players can research advantages, like greater shipping capacity or the ability to merge companies, possibly stealing ownership of lucrative plantations or shipping routes by buying out other players.

@@peakyboardgamer Looking at your channel; dude you’ve been throwing out some videos haven’t you? A lot of good work. What determines which games you will review? Seems like they’re all over the place regarding published date. Something as old as Indonesia and others more recent.

Neat. Very neat! Thanks so much! A small question though: is company expansion mandatory every round or can a player refuse to do it? And what happens if a player cannot afford the full cost?

You probably mean if "Operating" a company is mandatory. Yes , it is. You can choose the order of companies to operate but in the end you should operate all of them, and you must select an order so that you avoid coming to this situation (of being unable to pay negative income) When operating you must do all, sell goods , receive income, expand in this order. Negative income can happen but not having money to cover it is so rare a phenomenon that its almost unrealistic. However, after you spend all your remaining money, pay the rest from the bank and make a note of this amount to return it as soon as you get it in the future. In any case , you surely 'f...d up', don't expect winning ... :P

How does doubling income work in the final year? Is this ONLY the income earned from shipping and selling goods, or is it ALSO selling companies?

All income in the operations phase only is doubled as pointed on 24:12 I think you sell companies in another phase. (mergers) sorry for the delay in my response Tyler (sleeping)

at 21:30 the player can not transport the last rice with the southern yellow sea sailboat becasue here is no ship in the next sea zone that connects to the level 2 city? Or better worded, why can't the player use the yellow sailboat looking boat to transport last rice? thanks

The southern sailboat is not connected to the city in demand. There is a sea border that has to be crossed.

If another yellow ship was in the sea area to the right, it would be possible to send the rice. You need to use ships from a same ship company for each dispatch. You need to pay for each ship used. And the ship must have enough capacity

Great video! But I think you did a minor mistake at 19:38 in calling a yellow city level 2, and a green city level 1 while it's opposite according to the rules, but I guess some people arrange it themselves depending on what markers they have 12 and 8 of. ;)
