RULES:
The object of the game is to be the first player to move all their pieces to the home triangle. This game can be played by 2 to 4 players.
Setup. Each player picks a color and puts their 4 pieces inside the matching colored home base. Each player rolls the die and the player with the highest roll goes first, then play proceeds clockwise. On your turn, roll the die to determine your move. You must roll a 6 in order to move a piece out of your base and onto your start position on the track. That piece is now in play. You can only move pieces that are in play. If you have no pieces in play and fail to roll a 6, your turn ends.
If you have 1 or more pieces in play, you can move any one of your pieces the number of spaces along the path as indicated to the number rolled. Pieces move clockwise around the path, jumping at the corners then continuing up their own color’s home column up into their home triangle. If you roll a 6, you can choose to either move a piece out of your base onto the start position or move a piece that is in play. After you roll a six, you get to roll again. If you roll a 6 three times in a row, you end your turn immediately.
If your piece lands on the same space as an opponent’s piece, the opponent’s piece is sent back to their base. If your piece lands on a space occupied by one of your own pieces, that space becomes blocked. A blocked space cannot be passed or landed on by an opponent’s piece, but your own pieces may pass or land on it.
When your piece reaches the home column of its same color, that piece continues its moves toward its home triangle. A piece can only be moved to the home triangle with an exact roll. When your piece lands on the home triangle, that piece has completed its journey and may no longer be moved.
The first player to get all four of their pieces to their home triangle wins. The remaining players continue the game to determine the runner-ups.

We played with the pair mechanic. Can only move at even numbers. 2 means 1 space,4 means 2,you get the gist. They can only be broken when entering the starting point of any color. Another way to get rid of them is to make a pair and land on them,sending both pieces of the captured pair to their homebase. They can be climbed upon and then crossed. They cannot be crossed before being climbed on. Your own may pass through with no issue.

Sounds to me like a fancy but watered down version of Backgammon, the block mechanic is part of backgammon where a space with a single piece can be kicked off the board, a space with 2+ pieces is safe.

"Lūdus" and "lūdum" are both kinda right. Latin had noun cases like Russian or modern Greek, so there'll be around ten different forms of any given noun (give or take depending on which declension paradigm the noun belongs to). "Lūdus" is nominative (subject) singular. "Lūdum" is accusative (object) singular. "Lūdo" itself is also a word in Latin. Two words in fact. A verb verb and a noun. As a verb, it's the first person, active, indicative, present-tense for "lūdere" - to play. It could be translated as "I play" or "I am playing". As a noun, it's the ablative singular of "lūdus". The ablative case is the proximal cause for why I didn't take the full complement of four semesters of Latin in college, so I won't attempt to explain it. Anyway, "lūdus" would be the more correct version since the nominative is considered the "default" form of a noun.

@@getalife1906yah it's one of the rule if everyone agrees to it as it makes the game more difficult also there is if you get a 6 you get extra throw but only upto three 6. And no jumping over 2 pieces is crappy rule as you get more advantage if an opponent comes in front of your 2 pieces..

Very good and clear. Two questions. If there is a block, does the blocked piece stay on their original square with no counted movement, or do they move up to the block and stop short of their throw count? Is there a rule for "Breaking" a block before it is moved? Thank you.
@baqra007

Two edge case I would like to know: 1.) what if you don't role a six but non of your pieces in play can move this amount because they would move through or land on a blocked space? I see two options: A) your turn ends and you don't move. B) you move one of your pieces exactly one field behind the blocked on in front of it. 2) What if the starting field is blocked?

LOL. Where is the game part? The only decision players can do in this game is which piece to move on linear path if they have more than one of them in play. I can just tell to next player to roll for me and wake me up after the game ends and tell me if I won. Playing Conway's Game of Life manually on paper would be more interesting than this :D PS: I want to highlight that your explanation is really clear and understandable. Thank you for providing us with clear tutorial for this random linear path simulator.

Thanks for the very clear explanation. I have a couple of questions though: - After rolling a 6 and taking out a pawn, do I have to advance it from that square before I can get another pawn out, or do they just queue-up on the squares of the pawn's colour? - You said a pawn of another colour cannot move past a blocked square. In that case, what does it do? ... move to the space behind it? Or the pawn cannot move at all if the dice roll would take it to/past the blocked square?
@samiamatloob9337
@samiamatloob9337 2 жыл бұрын
Answer to your first question: yes we can que our pawns its not important to advance all your pawns Answer to your second question: its like you can not come on the blocked square but you will take the otherones place and who was there previously will go back in its home or you can say starting point and they need 6 again to start the game over for that pawn

The block mechanic is kinda pointless tbh.. in ireland you could double up and move 2, 3 or even 4 men all together at the risk of losing everything in one hit. Once you "doubled up" you had to stay that way til they got home.
