Hey Marty, can you do a tutorial on how to play I’m just a kid by simple plan and the tuning for the song?

How about a video on Maj7 chords with the root and the 7th a half step apart? I love the dreamy dissonant sound they give to acoustic guitar.

Billy Joel said during an interview (paraphrased) "When I was first starting out, I got a gig as a piano player in a bar and they wanted some jazz music. I didn't know a lot of jazz tunes at the time. But I found out that if I played a bunch of major seven chords, it sounds like I'm playing jazz."

Marty, Thank you for your generosity! As a 2 year player, in my 60’s, this helps open up so much more! It demonstrates how great the guitar really is as an instrument!! 😉👍

My teacher was teaching me arpeggios in Cmaj and this video was icing on the cake on learning more about Maj7 chords.

Thank you Marty for the refresher. I used to know and use a lot of these every day. Now, not so much. Another example is The Eagles and Best Of My Love, C-CM7. Keep groovin!

Great lesson especially if you're into that funky chord that isn't cowboy. Including this chord in your rock sometimes makes it sound so much better. Journey and Beach Boys used these sometimes. Just makes it sound better. A Spice.

Nice licks thanks and whatever level or age we can all do with a few pointers. There's those shapes we get stuck with for years and don't move on. It's good to re look at things

Major 7 chords are great, but to me they have this happy/sad feeling to them. When I hear them, I imagine it's the 1970s, and I'm on the way to the dentist on a rainy Monday morning.

Great lesson Marty. Thank you. 1 question, I'm curious where the chords get the number assignment. Why is the number "7" specifically used? TIA
@Tim8262125 күн бұрын
Because its the 7th note. In Cmaj7 C = 1 D=2 E=3 … B=7
@DaKrzFkr25 күн бұрын
@Tim82621 ahh, so it's a music theory thing. Theory always confuses me. ThanX though.
@Tim8262124 күн бұрын
@@DaKrzFkr more or less yea. Its just the alphabet counted up. If you know the order of the first 7 notes in the alphabet then you’re good. The first note is the note of the key, in my example thats C. And then its just the alphabet. In the key of A it would be: A=1, B=2, C=3, D=4 … G=7
