isn't it more natural to relate the 5 chord to the 3 chord given that the 7 chord is less frequent?

Thank you for bringing this up. Yes, you're making a very valid point here. I should have primarily used the III to illustrate the third relationships. It would've been more coherent with my argument. However, the vii is still not wrong because it can be used as a substitute for the V chord in some cases. If you take a closer look at the notes of the vii (staying in F Major)-it is E, G, and Bb-this is basically a dominant seven (C, E, G, Bb) chord without the root Ideally, I should've mentioned both possibilities in the video, so thank you again for paying attention!

Thanks for taking the time to show how the chords are added to the melody of the song. You can harmonize the song easily by adding the chord [ 1 3 5 ] at the first beat or third beat to the melody of the song. Hark the herald angel sing in 4/4 time 1 2 3 4 - A merry Christmas to you and all music enthusiasts watching the video here.

Thanks; lots here to appreciate. Those of us looking to master triads welcome new approaches to the study. Your approach makes the short list; I'll use it to keep triad practices fresh and interesting. Also, your instrument looks beautiful. Do we see jumbo frets and Graphtech string trees? Thanks again Gregor; Happy Holidays and eager to follow you in 2025!

Thank you! Yes, I'm using Graph Tech string trees and the largest jumbo frets I could get my hands on. I believe these are the 6100s, if my memory serves me well.

Great Lesson! I get the key being in F with the notes used, but how does the circle of 5ths confirm the key?
@becomegreatatguitar19 сағат бұрын
The circle of fifths shows you the accidentals. If you find just one single Bb, it can only be F major or D minor.
