This game just came out on PC, so I figured I'd make a video covering everything I think people miss or need help with.

@amafi_poe10 жыл бұрын
***** You can get through the game fine without ever knowing what blade cancelling or dodge offset it.Same as in Bayo and W101. You're not going to max rank it at higher difficulties just dodging/parrying or relying on witch time, but the game is absolutely beatable. These tricks are for people who get way into max ranking everything, playing on the highest difficulties, things like that. You do need to learn the parry, but I thought the game did a decent enough job teaching that.

Stozzi This. If Ray wasn't enough of a parrying tutorial (every one of Ray's PHYSICAL attacks can be parried; this does not count his machineguns or laser attacks) then Blade Wolf is the rite of passage, much like he was in the demo. It's also worth noting that Ray is the only enemy in the game which doesn't glow red or yellow before attacking, but his attacks are so telegraphed that he didn't need to, anyway.

PSA to anyone wondering why he sounds annoyed in this video: While celebrated now, at the time of initial release on consoles, the game was getting ripped apart on early video impressions and social media by people complaining about the lack of blocking/dodging, so this video was released shortly after as a response to that. While you could make the argument that games shouldn't require you to watch other videos learning how to play them, at the same time you got also have folks on the "Sequelitis mentality" that now complain constantly about ingame tutorials holding your hand. Revengeance is not 100% innocent in the way it explained itself, but people wouldn't like a 16 minute tutorial in-game on what to do either. It's a lose-lose at this point if games have even a modicum of complexity. But thankfully, titles like this, Monster Hunter, Souls titles, fighting games, and rougelikes are being accepted more easily now by the mainstream.

Sorry to reply to a year old comment, but yes it is a user problem when it comes to these platinum games. Just compare the criticism of this game to the IGN review of godhand. Some people just do not understand when a game is going for high technical skill rather than flashy visuals and immersive story lines. Platinum games is the modern version of what classic video games use to be. Mega man could have been ripped apart by reviewers and critics now, but many people took the challenge and realized how expertly crafted the game was. Same with castlevania, which if released today would probably have people complaining about the long attack animations and items only useful in some situations. Hell, just look at how many "critics" *cough* Yahtzee *cough* hated on the dark souls series until it became popular and they suddenly regard it as an amazing classic.

@7force10 жыл бұрын
One more thing to add to this: There's also Defensive Offensive (hereby D.O.) Blade Canceling. You can parry during any part of any combo, but this relies on an incoming parry-able enemy attack. If you want to abandon whatever combo you're in the middle of (to, say, dodge an unblockable attack, or any other reason), use D.O., then enter Blade Mode at any time during D.O. Using a D.O. Blade Cancel will allow you complete and utter control of Raiden on the battlefield. D.O. itself is highly exploitable, due to its i-frames. For example, during the fight with Armstrong, you can use a sidestep or forward roll D.O. to dodge his initial fire wall attacks AND do damage to him at the same time.

If you parry but use a dodge after it, your combo won't reset. You can also use dodge to cancel animations, but you cannot cancel a dodge animation with another. Parry can cancel animations as well, but you cannot dodge right away after succesfully parrying an attack.

The blade canceling I did learn myself while going for gold speed on a stealth-kill VR mission. I needed to cut down on the stealth kill animation time so I just pressed buttons during the animation looking for a way to cancel. Thanks for this, I was getting mauled badly until your video helped the combat click for me. This game is amazing, can't believe I let it gather dust on my Steam library for so long.

I like the authors tone, addressing the viewer like the moron most of them are. I know I was, and feel both admonished and enlightened for having watched this. Cheers

Err... no, that's hundred percent the game's fault. You are not the only one needing instruction and you don't need them in every game.

Yeah I think his attitude and tone is annoying as shit. He sounds like a jumped up prick. I know I’m replying to a 5 year old comment btw.

This video is very useful. Didn't know that you have to input block on every attack like that.

Great tutorial, kept on dying at the first fight with the two bigger enemies. Can't wait to try out the gamer later today and see how they will like my new special tactics >:D
