Played some piano as a kid, but haven't in a really long while and was in a sad mood so decided to learn this and let me tell you it took me a couple of hours of practicing the first 4 measures and I have them all down today, now learning the 5th measure with the added keys has been kind of confusing, but I will keep at it and hopefully be able to make it sound good! Thank you HD Piano love your teaching style (:

I think you should do something special for Avicii. He past away 20th of April and in some way or another we should honor him for being a true musician. He inspired so many and spread so much joy with his music. His music will never die and he will always be remembered for everything he did for the musical world. "Without you" would in my eyes be a perfect song to do a lesson on. Take care of each other! Rest in peace Tim Bergling, we'll miss you!

Thank you for this tutorial! Im a beginner right now and i’ve always wanted to play classical music and learn how to read notes and by watching videos, it looks really hard and i dont think i can do it. I have piano lessons, and they are teaching me basic piano notes and stuff, i admit it it was hard for me but super easy for others. I’ve searched music notes and it was hard to read! I couldn’t even understand anything. Im 12 yrs old right now and i know! I’m too late to learn the piano! It will probably take me 10 yrs to learn how to read notes and play really nice songs! My friend, she’s really good at piano and she started learning when she was 5, and it just makes me sad because she knows how to play classical music and I don’t. I can’t help but feel jealous. I wish i started playing the piano when i was a kid but its too late....

what many of you may or may not know is that “Moonlight Sonata” despite it’s sorrowful sound, was actually written as a love song not a requiem. The woman who Beethoven wrote this to he was very much in love with. The woman did not return his love simply because his passion for his music was too strong and his anger was an issue. But within the confinements of the chord progression towards the beginning and the long arpeggio that he plays towards the end, in itself you can hear as to why Beethoven intended to write the piece this way. Much like their relationship, it had many ups and downs and you can hear Beethoven’s pain of wanting a loving relationship and need for her love or anyone to love him. Sorry I’m a nerd but I just wanted to share 😂

The adagio sostenuto has made a powerful impression on many listeners; for instance, Berlioz said of it that it "is one of those poems that human language does not know how to qualify".[19] Beethoven's student Carl Czerny called it "a nocturnal scene, in which a mournful ghostly voice sounds from the distance".[3] The movement was very popular in Beethoven's day, to the point of exasperating the composer himself, who remarked to Czerny, "Surely I've written better things."

I just think it's utterly insane that we can all learn and play a song written in 1801. Thank you Ludwig van Beethoven. I've noticed the further we go back in time, the harder and more complicated the pieces are (the majority anyway, I realise there are still brilliant composers around today). Are songwriters lazier now or do people just enjoy listening to simpler songs? Is humanity dumbing itself down? Jeez, tangent there.

I think today's technology and listening culture informs the type of music people want to hear. Also, with the many production tools available to music-makers, more emphasis can be put on things like timbre, samples, fine-tuned effects, etc. Different culture = different music! Like you said, there's still plenty of complex music out there; it's just not as widely known. --Luke

Actually he wasn't completely deaf; he could still hear everything he played. And he was only starting to go deaf when he composed this.

Benjamin Zander has exposed the fact that it is a fantasy dance. Actually written to be played much much faster. It was never a funeral dirge. The triplets are the accompaniment with melody in the bass. Try it you’ll love it!

Love your videos! I'm wondering if we can request newer classical songs or would that be like plagiarism or stealing? I requested the song "Le Rêve d'une note" by Riopy on your website and am wondering if you were actually able to do a tutorial on the song or not since it was released less than a month ago. Thanks
