It looks good but jeezoos they trying to be GW with their prices??? 100 dollar entry fee for 2 players is ridiculous. That's a no go and I can see it not taking off because of this very reason. And expansion packs are not cheap either...

Thank you, glad it was helpful. It's such a fun game, we are playing it a lot at my local club and loads of us have started to grow our collection already. I'l be making a demo game video first, then lots of battle reports to come!

This does seem a good bit more complex than Warcry, but its fairly cheap so I've ordered it and will give it a go with my daughter - might need to watch some video sections a few times though!

The abilities are so varied it makes it very fun, and it is a little more complex but also feels more chilled and definitely a social game and great fun to play with the family.

How do you think the game would play on a slightly smaller play area (say 2'x2' or 22"x30")? For example for a 2'x2' board you have the players set up within 4" of their board edge, so they are no closer to their opponent or the center than if they set up within 10" of the 3'x3' board (16" and 8" respectively).
@tabletopskirmishgames
@tabletopskirmishgames Жыл бұрын
I think it would work, especially with 3-4 miniatures. Be good to try it out, and it would also open up a lot of fun opportunities to create some different terrain.

Is the bluffing mechanic necessary for game play? Is it something that could be ignored? I'm very interested in playing this with my kids. Just wondering if i could homebrew that out or if it would make a huge difference and change the game too much.
@tabletopskirmishgames
@tabletopskirmishgames Жыл бұрын
You don't have to bluff, you could only play required a card if you have one in your hand. My kids love the bluffing part, though, it's good fun and makes the game a good laugh.

As i am choosing my charakters, does it matter if they are big Models, such as giants or trolls? Or do they have the same "value" (of 1) as every other model too? Thank you for your help, really appreciate this video, since you made me buy the game and about 300 Euro worth of expansions.
@tabletopskirmishgames
@tabletopskirmishgames Жыл бұрын
Wow that sounds like an awesome haul! That's right, they have the same value, so you can choose any characters that share the faction symbol. You can't have duplicates, though.

Rules-wise, Would you say Moonstone is heavier or lighter than Warcry?
@tabletopskirmishgames
@tabletopskirmishgames Жыл бұрын
I'd say it's easier to learn the core rules. You then build the complexity with the characters and their abilities. The abilities are much more diverse than Warcry, and they make a lot of sense for the characters. It's a very clever game, and there is a lot of depth to it as you explore the different factions and see how the different characters work together in different ways. It's also balanced nicely, so tournament play is very fun. I like random narrative play the most, though, and find that players can approach a game in a competitive way and a narrative way at the same time against each other and both have fun; that's rare I think. I have to say, I love Moonstone and if I had to choose between them, I would 100% pick Moonstone over Warcry now. Never thought I'd say that!

One minor comment.. when you were describing arcane abilities you used the word active instead of arcane for the ability which is not correct since there are active abilities in moonstone working differently than arcane 🙂. Thank you for the video though I really enjoy the presentations with the arrows and the X's.keep up!

I likely won't play this myself, but I really appreciate these how to play videos mate, for all the games you cover. They all help me with ideas and mechanics for my own game design. There's no other chances I get to actually try these games directly. I really like the moonstone dice drop. Looking most forward to that Necromunda series. As an aside... there's something about those rounded edge bases that really appeals to me. They seem higher quality, or in authenticity or something. They're great.
