If you play leviathan mission deck, OC 0 units can still do actions but if you are playing the new Pariah nexus mission deck, then OC 0 units cannot do actions.

@8:20 - to be even more scarab specific for this strategy: at the beginning of the fight phase, you can self destruct your first scarab in your unit closest to your enemy to put the enemy outside the 12" firing range of the rest of the scarab unit. If a group of dakka bois are lining up to roll 42 shots at your scarabs, sacrificing one so that they can't attack the whole unit can win a fight. (Plus it gets reanimated on your command phase)

Scarabs are such an under appreciated unit ... They were an MVP in one of my tourney matches, the -1 OC +1 OC helped flip an objective for several rounds (difference in a close game) while my wraiths and my opponents wraiths and Void Dragon scrapped on a side objective. 24 wounds is a lot in a 6 pack, even if they are so fragile otherwise.

I love my scarabs They are so lucky 3 scarabs against a Psychophage Got 3 mortal wounds from self destructed and 9/12 5+ hits with 5 being lethals By the end of the turn the Psychophage was half strength from scarabs alone Also the same 3 finished off a daemon prince

Unfortunate now they cannot do objectives without a crypek cause of the oc 0 Also with szeras, the AP rule only affects battleline units (warriors and Immortals)

Its quite sad what they have done to these units like. Loved bringing 3 blobs of them back in the day in 9th. Maybe one day the will shine again haha

16:22 I came here to say this and I think this pairing was really lost in the video, as it's how I primarily play them. I use them to screen Szeras, and you mentioned the +1 OC, but missed that they in turn, make Szeras Lone Op >3". Plonk them on an objective, and Szeras can either charge/shoot through when approached. You also mentioned Szeras' AP ability, unfortunately, this only applies to battle line units.

🟣 Are they that good at Secondary Objectives, though chaps? Cleanse Objective, Investigate Signals and Deploy Teleport Homers need the Unit to give up Shooting. Scarabs can't shoot, so they can't do many of these Secondaries? No point putting them into the corners as you advise, to do Investigate Signals if it comes up me old mucka, as they can't do that Objective as they are not "eligible to shoot" ❤ 🟣 screening with them and using them to make 'speed bump' combats ... ABSOLUTELY 💯 🤔 ... ... Simon

Scarabs can still complete cleanse, investigate signals, and deploy teleport homers. So the wording of the shooting phase says you must select an eligible target first, then choose your weapon profile to fire, then select your target. So when it comes to selecting a unit to complete cleanse and other secondaries, you simply select an eligible unit and then complete the objective. It does not say select a unit with a shooting weapon it asks you to select an eligible unit! Hope that makes sense :)

Think of it like two paths. In your shooting phase: Select an eligible unit > shoot with this unit. Or Select an eligible unit > complete a secondary objective. An eligible unit doesn't mean they need a weapon. :)

@WorHammer40k interesting I didn't know that, thank you, that really does change Scarabs a lot. So they could complete these Objectives after Advancing, or in Engagement Range as if they had Asaault or Pistols, they would be eligible to shoot?

@@simonneville3278 great question! Only units with the ASSAULT keyword can complete "action" secondaries after advancing. And only units with PISTOL can complete "action" secondaries while in engagement range
