This is a tutorial on how to play Om Namah Shivaya by Krishna Das on harmonium. The melody came to him after a dear mentor of his, who worshipped Neem Karoli Baba as Shiva, passed away. It's not my best but here it is! Ask me anything about playing harmonium, music theory, or anything else about playing for kirtan.

Kristan Das is by far the best to listen to... for some reason he's the only one I like to listen to when I want to learn anything... That live in New York is outstanding. Thanks for your lessons...

I was there for that recording in the audience, what a great night! We all have our favorites, KD is special. His melodies and style remind me of lullabies, simple children's tunes. So accessible. I think that's part of it. Happy to do them, thanks for your requests!

Great lesson... what a great song... now I got something to work on.... where did you get your Bina? I have a yamaha keyboard...just doesn't sound like the real thing.

Happy to hear it was helpful! Probably the best I can do to expand on these chords in a video format is to add in what's called the "3rd" of the chords to add some thickness. I've assigned time in my schedule to make that video. Hopefully it will be a helpful supplement. I also scheduled some time to learn and make a tutorial video for the link you posted in your comment.
