i like the how a lot of the mechanics are similar to other tcgs but yet feel fresh when playing this game. definitely a must by for me. i love tcgs that use the shield/trigger system but also use a mana system at the same time.
@rustmarrow2 жыл бұрын
Yes, really like the balance between familiar and fresh they achieved with OPTCG. And it somehow mixes together for a completely new kind of experience, feels like I'm learning a new type of game from scratch!
@corvusblackfeather4562 жыл бұрын
@@rustmarrow mtg's biggest flaw is that you end up with hands that have too many or too few mana. this game solves it by making it a separate deck and only giving the player a maximum of two dons per turn. best of all, the dons can be shuffled back into the deck, and aren't color restricted. best of all, the shield/trigger system makes it so easy to track who's winning/losing without the need of a calculator. my hats off to whoever designed this system. im trying to design a card game myself, and this is a huge revelation to me. plz include one piece tcg content, the game is easy to follow.

*IMPORTANT: Bandai just announced a rule change (16 Sep). Instead of choosing which Life to return to hand when taking damage, you go in order and always take your top Life as damage instead. First impressions: I don't have enough IQ for this game LOL. The mechanic of DON!! attachment really expands the strategic possibilities of each turn, especially with the free order of the Main Phase. For example, you could bait your opponent into letting a strong but relatively weaker attack through by attacking first, before committing all of your Active DON!! to making a second unblockable attack. And if the opponent doesn't fall for it, you can adapt to the situation by distributing your DON!! for multiple attacks OR switching attention to field presence instead (playing more Charas or knocking out your opp's Charas). So far based on my playtesting, it's felt like the 'common sense' gained from playing other TCGs doesn't always completely work in this one. Definitely going to need more time to get used to One Piece's fresh twists on the genre, but have been enjoying the game more with each match I play and genuinely excited to get better at it. Would highly recommend giving it a shot!

The things I don't like are the comeback machanics, and the counter machanics. Your hand is the most valuable resource, that's why cards that allow you to draw from your deck are so valuable. And to discard a card for a temporary buff is just a waste, and doesn't even make sense for the One Piece universe; unlike dragonball where characters give their ki to each other to aid in battle, like against Cell, Buu, etc. I don't like the card advantage when losing life because it rewards the losing player, and they could draw into a crucial card for their strategy. Giving them the victory. It's not as hard to learn as the dbs card game, but not as awesome as the digimon tcg. I'm looking forward to your future videos for the one piece tcg though.

same I'm still confused on when triggers can be played. Is it when ever the card is picked up for example taking a hit in your life cards and when you draw one from your deck on your turn?
@nateferguson240426 күн бұрын
@@AquaZulu8947it probably doesn't matter anymore you've likely found your answer lol. At any rate though for anyone else asking the same question in the future triggers are only played when they are picked up from your health. So for example you get hit once taking 1 Damage so you pull one of your life cards and it has a trigger effect. It can be used immediately upon pulling it from life and from NOWHERE else. Trigger effects only matter when pulled from life thats why most of them have a separate effect like a normal card in addition to their trigger effect.
