The fact that Croce could play this song so well AND sing in time / on key shows that he was way more than just a “singer songwriter” ( the marketing genre he was lumped into). Great lesson! Hope life is good with you

This song came on the radio when I was 13 in 1992 and I loved it. I found out what it was from my parents and immediately went to buy the CD. I got my hands on a guitar and thought I would be able to learn how to play it. It didn't take long to figure out it was way out of my league. I didn't even know it was two guitars. Long story short 31 years later and I still can't play either part. With this video and a good month I think I can get Jim's part down to make it work by myself. Thank you.

My introduction to fingerpicking was on stuff like this - My guitar teacher would play something and he'd ask "are you afraid of it?" - What inexperienced fingerpicker wouldn't say "yes"?. LOL He'd say "Good" and tell me it was the perfect time to learn it. If I said something was above my paygrade he'd ask "why?". I never had a good answer - I just took it home and chewed on it like a dog with a bone. After 3 years or so, I'm still chewing on that stuff but, it sure does shed some light in terms of learning the fret board and economy of movement. You're good teacher so, yeah man - attempt it - What's the worst that could happen? 🙃
