Great explanation! Sharing with a frustrated fellow guitar player friend who wants to be able to do better pinch harmonics. The pickup area "search" for the hottest pinches is very helpful. So much emphasis is usually only put on on catching the flesh of the thumb. Thanks!

I remember playing my first pinch harmonics like a year ago (been playing for 2.5 years) and this is exactly what I taught myself! As of now I try more fingerpicking on my guitar but I even learned to play pinch harmonics with just my fingers and gallop rhythm with my thumb. I also play a lot of classical guitar, so the gallop rhythm with my thumb came kinda easy to me after learning rumba (with the little claps om the guitar body) but going back to where I started all of this is really making my day, thank you for this video!

I've been playing for over 20 years. I am defective. I can not, for the life of me, do pinch harmonics. It just does not compute to my fingers apparently. :(
