Fantastic lessons. Thanks for making this available for free!

I like that you demonstrated the shots without doing retakes to make the cue ball do exactly what you said. The results you got show that there is variability in the predicted positions. Excellent.

Thanks, that was my intent but I overdid it lol... I changed the way I was compensating for English and using a new shaft right before this video so I missed a few more than normal. But yes, it does demonstrate the compensations that are needed when using English and how much knowledge, practice, and feel is needed to make shots with various speeds and from different distances

@@ScottsPoolSchool I've been kicking around for over 70 years now and gone through more phases of interest in competitive activities than I care to admit to. There is one thing I can say I learned during that time - try as you nay to learn quick schemes to to be good at something, there is no replacement for good, devoted practice. In the mean time there is good instruction out there in videos like yours. Enjoyable to watch. Thanks for you time trying to get us to practice at this great game of billiards.

I like the way this man teaches. He definitely has a passion to help people get better at this almost magical game. One thing that wasn't really covered and probably didn't need to be covered is when using inside spin the cue ball must be struck much harder to get it to an equal distance as if using outside spin. It's going against what I call the grain of the shot. I watch these videos because I use them as a refresher course and once in a while something is said that is sort of out of the blue that I was not consciously aware of.

Scott, I personally thank you for your videos made public! I have watched a lot of videos, yours I would rate among the best, if not the best. I have already used your ideas and greatly enhanced my game. In my local hall, we have world-class players, including Oscar Dominguez the new owner. They are very gracious to lend a hand. It really is a beautiful thing to see you guys help us. Of course practice, practice, and practice. Thanks, Scott!

Great video. Have to say that revo shaft have a lot of deflection. I play those same shots with my OB classic shaft using inside parallel English to natural contact point and make it everytime. When using outside u just aim object ball thicker.

I wanted to know what you thought about a trick I herd SVB talk about. On a straight in shot, if you use left or right English on the center line and power the shot to allow the cueball to jump slightly it will allow it to spin towards the direction of the English because when the cueball comes back into contact with the felt it acts like it hit a rail but since there's no actual angle to move down it moves horizontal to the object ball.

Jumping the CB into the OB can help alter the tangent line, since the CB is hitting the OB higher up and therefore thinner than usual. Especially when close to the OB this technique can be used to alter the return path. Using spin probably won't help much, except when used as sort of a jump/masse, definitely an advanced technique and while possible takes a lot of practice to control, especially at distance.

I enjoy watching all your videos they are educational for sure but your version of soft in my version of soft is totally different your version of self is more my medium soft when I hit a ball self I really hit its very slowly but I have stopped doing that recently because of table rolls but there are a lot of situations where you cannot hit the ball as hard as you said your soft is so I guess you would call a one a super soft

What about front or back hand or parallel english?
@ScottsPoolSchool5 жыл бұрын
What about it? If you have an specific questions let me know. I think I covered it a bit in this video, covered a lot in a previous (unrecorded) clinic I did, that's why I didn't cover it in detail in this one. I much prefer backhand english, front hand english, or a combination approach, vs parallel, but all techniques can work if practiced and mastered. There is some great info on the various methods from Joe Tucker and Dr. Dave, search for those videos on KZbin to learn more. And I will cover it again in detail as well in future videos, so stay tuned...

I'm super interested in back hand English
@ScottsPoolSchool5 жыл бұрын
@@KorbyWaters I covered this in detail in a previous clinic before I started filming. I will cover it again, so stay tuned! It works really well with most of today's low deflection shafts, and can make you feel like you are automatically compensating for deflection in a very natural way. In the meantime, check out this series of 3 videos that my buddy Joe Tucker did years ago, I had to search for them but my recollection is that there is some good solid info on CB deflection, squirt, swerve, etc. in these 3 videos. Dr. Dave also has some good info on his site. Here's the first video, first part of a three part series. Hope it helps! kzbin.info/www/bejne/m5i6iZSvrNydmM0
