How to Play PS1 Games on a Jailbroken PS4 with PSX-FPKG

We used to be able to do this with no problems on the PS3 by just inserting the disc. Now we have to jailbreak the console to play what used to be included.

PS1 wasnt even hardware locked it was all software done on ps3 and ps2 was the same later on in the ps3 life so WHY was this dropped...MONEY sony being greedy as always.

@@mhhocane3513 Yes and no its still emulation there are issues but for a quickie yes if you go for a modded PS3 you can copy the disks and make packages installers for it and it works much the same officially the store sell some rare games too.

It’s because the PS4 doesn’t have the diode required to read CDs In it’s optical drive (presumably to cut costs or because they thought people don’t use CDs anymore), it physically doesn’t have the means to read a PlayStation game

@@StanceSantos incorrect the PS1 discs CAN be read by any CD/BD drive. The PS1 looks for a very specific bit of code placed outside of the typical range on the discs as DRM protection to prevent Burned discs to be run. PS4 drive INST compatible with CDs because sony just stopped it from reading them in software and told the console should it recognize the format type to display the error message. The Reasoning is clear they have a music store and one of the major complaints was that on the PS3 people could Rip them into Mp3 Files and record companies didnt want them able to do something like that easily.

for those who have the option, you are probably better off using a jailbroken ps3 to run ps1 games since all you need is an external drive with the games in .bin/cue format (no need to convert them to pkg files or install them) and the ps3 runs them (with its native emulator). i have yet to find a game that didn't run perfectly. heck the ps1 compatibility (on ps3) is even better than ps1 eboots (on the psp) since you don't need to concern yourself with pops variations.

If you're playing Extermination, play the PAL version, the PAL/JP version has RE1-style voice acting they took out and redubbed over in the US release because they thought it would make it sell better The original voice acting has much more character

FOR THOSE OF YOU HAVING ISSUES WITH COMMAND PROMPT I have a potential fix for you that worked for me. Make sure that your NP Title is exactly 4 letters and 5 numbers with NO dashes, Even if the original game serial characters don't have 4 numbers just add a random one because it doesn't matter.

I've tried this 100 times, every different version of the program. I keep getting errors. I did get it to go to the black screen once. It didnt move and stood still for like 5 mins. I really want to get this to work.

Crash Bandicoot 2 is working with minor issues, Klonoa is working, Wipeout 3 is working with no music. On the devwiki it shows inplayable. The issue is the app "Psx Fpkg" does not support the cue files so the emulator does not know what next to load. Doom ps1 works, but does no load into the game, the emulators on windows "epsxe" does the same, you need to run it from Cue with the Bin in the same folder to make it run correctly.

If you cant play the ps1 game you want because of lag you can try to load ps1 games in retroarch also put it in folder roms then inside that psx and put your bin I tryes to play nightmare creaters 2 and was unplayable on the ps4 then I put it in retroarch scanned the roms and it loaded right up audios a little buggy but frames are fine
