1:33 This is actually a paradox, the black knight couldn't have gotten there in forwards time without "reverse-capturing" one of white's pieces. Edit: He said "If you are unable to remove the threat of check FROM your opponent's king…" Seems like in Rewinding Chess, the king gives check to whoever is currently attacking it! Makes perfect sense, because to give in backwards time is to receive in forwards time. And it also seems like when your opponent sets you up for a paradoxical position like this, YOU are the one that loses the game, not your opponent. Weird stuff, or I'm just confused.

Seems like a good tactic is to make too many of a type of opponents' piece, for instance by reverse-capturing 9 light-square bishops, so that they all have to get to light squares on your back rank to reverse-promote and then they have to pawn-walk all the way back from there. I'm assuming that making more than 5 light-square bishops is legal. 5 or more of them have to reverse-promote from light squares, which means that 5+ pawns have to get to the same 4 squares in the forward game / normal chess, which is at least very tricky to accomplish but it is theoretically possible.
