Thanks for this great song, really appreciate the time you put in going through it. As far as what I can glean from the internet, Rikki is Rikki Ducornet, a New York writer and artist. Donald Fagen met her while both were attending Bard College, a small liberal arts school in Annandale on Hudson New York. Ducornet said they met at a party, and even though she was both married and pregnant at the time, he gave her his number, although not in the same context as the song. She was intrigued by Fagen and was tempted to call him, but decided against it. This was Steely Dan's highest charting single, reaching #4 on the Hot 100 in 1974. The B side was "Any major dude will tell you" The keyboard riff was taken from "Song for my father" released in 1964 by jazz composer and pianist Horace Silver. The first few bars are nearly identical. I liked how Steely Dan used many elements of jazz in their songs, I still have a dozen or so on my ipod. Heading over to learn the chorus now, thanks again :- )

loving it till...at 14:21 shouldn't it be B Eb Ab A D Ab A E...not B E Ab A D Ab A E. Nevertheless great lesson. Looking to study this more. I actually adapted this song for guitar with me playing all parts on guitar since I'm in a trio band. This is one of my favorites.

That piano run at 55 secs: the 2nd note is an D# ascending and an E natural descending. Its a pretty important riff in the song..

A2 is a somewhat ambiguous chord symbol - some people use that to describe A(sus2), but some people use it to describe A(add2). A(sus2) would be A, B, E (without the 3rd of the chord) and A(add2) would be A, B, C#, E (WITH the 3rd of the chord).
