Somewhat important rule notation: When you play your final card during combat and add the discard pile back to your deck, you leave the last card you played in the discard. “return all cards from that card’s discard pile to his deck (except for the card he just resolved)”

Ah, quite right! Looks like I done goofed on that one. I'll add a note, thanks!

Combat is definitely improved in terms of player agency, although it remains fairly slow. Call me superstitious, but I almost hesitate maxing out on combat dice (13 in all). A very strong expansion for an already great game. Thank you for your review!
@tothepanels Жыл бұрын
So if you have a max of 13 (5,5,3) does it make sense to have a large force if they are going sit and take damage?

The Death Star shows that it can carry 8 troops. Does that mean Move the Death Star just like I do Star destroyers and other space craft?
@RTFM3 жыл бұрын
Yep. If it's still under construction, it has to stay put, but as soon as it's fully built, you can treat it like other ships.

Question related to setup with expansion: the Death Star under construction, is this replaced by the one in the build queue? Then allowing it to move as normal etc.?
@RTFM2 жыл бұрын
Yep. It works just like a normal death star under construction.

So the lightsaber symbols do absolutely nothing for the active player? We thought they remembered how many blocks they got and removed them from the following roll by the defenders, making both simultaneous.
@RTFM18 күн бұрын
Not necessarily. Since tactics cards can deal damage, special symbols can remove those. However this system does favor the defender a bit more than the attacker. But no, you don't remember the blocks and apply them later.

@@RTFM Thanks for your response, good to know. I wonder if we have been giving the Empire too much advantage by playing that way.
@MyMiniMovieMagic5 жыл бұрын
To streamline combat, we have 4 sets of the 13 dice (Rebel Ground, Rebel Space, Empire Ground, Empire Space) and changed Lightsaber symbols to be 2 Colored Hits instead of Heal. Dice rolling is done simultaneously - speeds things up a lot, but love the rest of the new rules for the expansion as Cinematic Combat is just so great and feels a lot more exciting than base game combat. Also gives you more decisions, strategy and control with the decks!
@iamspamus87844 жыл бұрын
I found going second gave a HUGE advantage. Especially in blocking hits. One question though, can you assign more hits than needed against a ship to possibly negate them blocking a hit?
@RTFM4 жыл бұрын
Yes, but also, in this version you aren't blocking hits, you're healing damage. Meaning you can remove hits dealt in prior combat rounds.
@iamspamus87844 жыл бұрын
@@RTFM Hmmm. That is not how my opponent thinks. He's the one who taught me the game. We did the first game with the base system only and then the next with the cinematic combat. What you are saying makes sense, but that's now how he interpreted it.
@RTFM4 жыл бұрын
@@iamspamus8784 The rulebook doesn't say anything about only healing damage dealt this round. It just says that you remove a damage token, meaning that ships that are already damaged can be healed.
@iamspamus87844 жыл бұрын
@@RTFM Interesting. Thanks. I'll take a look. That was my only problem with the cinematic combat. Cheers.

1:25 if you can randomly set up objective deck with two Death Star plans, does that included the base and rise cards in each of those decks?
@RTFM Жыл бұрын
Yes, the objective deck will be randomized, so it'll probably have a mix of both the base and expansion cards

Would you say that it's not worth it to play the game without the expansion refreshing combat then ? Like, it was "actually that bad" ..?
@RTFM3 жыл бұрын
I think the game is good without the expansion, but I certainly wouldn't want to go back now that I've tried it with. It's worth it to play without, but if you at all enjoy the game, I fully recommend the expansion.
@mescaLEO5 ай бұрын
answering two years later, however the expansion transforms an already very good game into an excellent one: once you start playing with its rules you won't go back to base combat cards and rules. Ever.
