Hey I have a question and I’m a freshman in HS, whenever I play the mid D it will shoot up high if I slur to it but if I tongue to it it will play fine, I’m not sure if it is a problem with my embouchure or instrument
@verasuomi40603 жыл бұрын
hey so idk if you need this anymore but D is a really problematic note on the saxophone :D your embouchurr has a lot to do with it, but so does your instrument. the easiest way is propably to try to adjust your embouchure right :)

how long have you been playing to play the 0:10 that fast ?

if you have played for many years, say 7-8, and have been practising your scales, you really don't need that much practise to get it to that speed. BUT not all of us have practised scales so propably long for those of us =D

Cool practice! in the second pattern starting from G# the Bb-B fingering you use I've never used it like that, can you tell more about it? In that context going from Bb-B I've always used the lowest side key for Bb instead of rolling it with the pearl keys like you do. For me thats very clumsy, how can I practice it ?

It would make more sense to have the camera positioned to show you fingering as opposed to watching your face while blowing the horn

Good tips, however, a chromatic scale (although valuable) is really the same, you just start in a different place. I get more value from playing Major, minor, and pentatonic scales.

how do i tongue faster though?

Double tongue. Yes, it is possible on sax, but uncommon.

It would be helpful if you showed us the actual keys on the sax in the video. You've got your fingers cut off on the screen...
@jazzygiraffe85894 жыл бұрын
What I don't get about your idea of finger position is that Bird played with the very tip of his fingers on the keypearls and on top of that every sax teacher tells you not to have straight fingers while playing. At the same time though, it makes a lot of sense.

I'm puzzled as to why you're talking about concert pitch. Wouldn't it just be easier to say which note *on the saxophone* you are starting with?
@CouraTheExplora7 жыл бұрын
so that tenor and alto players can just play relative to that?
@vampiresquid7 жыл бұрын
That doesn't make any sense. The exercises start on G and D, whether for alto or tenor. They translate into different things in concert pitch, but it's not necessary or helpful for the exercise to note that, unless he's just trying to sneak in a lesson on concert transposition.

You know it would be helpful if you did not blur out and hide your Sax, so that we could see what you played. Also please stop calling everyone the better musicians they "Wannabe" in every video of yours. Cheers.
