In Germany we play this Game without having to buy it and just all think about categories ourselves. The time is just up when the first person finishes every answer. It‘s called „city, country, river“ or originally „Stadt, Land, Fluss“

@@kimberlyvega7755 huh so basta is a spanish word so the word definition kinda evolved here in the philippines. i can't find a near translation, but we use the word when either we can't think of a reason or explanation or just didn't want to (like "basta may pagkain" mean "as long as there's food" or "basta nandiyan" mean "it's there somewhere")

It could be a diffrent model. I have a newer on and it doesnt have the fancy timer and dice thing and the folders are diffrent

Do things include people, animals and plants too? Example for the category “Things in a hospital”, is Heart Surgeon valid? Or “Things that have tails”, is Cat valid?

Late reply but I just turned on the timer and used my phone stopwatch to time it…..and if my calculations at 12AM are correct, it’s 3 minutes long ☺️ lol hope this helps!

Not everyone in “our” culture makes this distinction. I attended a public library event in NZ in 2015 where the group played a variation of Scategories and the category was “animals” - my group had the letter “H” and we said “hawk”. The games master laughed and said “Hawks aren’t animals! They’re birds!” Whaaah? I laughed and asked if he was joking. He then took a hand count and most of the room agreed that birds were not animals. Whaaaat?! Then he said, “Then you would probably call humans animals.” I responded, “Of course! Do you think you’re a plant or mineral?!” Note that the people who put up their hands were over 65 British immigrants to NZ. I was a 40 something American. I chalked it up to different education systems, but it was certainly an eye opener to learn that there’s a group of people out there who think birds are not animals.
