Funny story: I was searching for someone to teach me this song. I saw a few versions but nobody played it without lyrics. I came across this version and forwarded the beginning and said “oh cool, this guy really knows how to play it and he is showing us just like the band LOL (to boot, he is exceptionally good looking and has a great accent). So naturally I went to subscribe in case he has other songs he is teaching and realized I am already a subscriber. So I looked at his name and said “wow” how did he get to use Keane as his name... I went back to the beginning and listened to him talk and realized who he was. Shocker...he is giving out his recipe??? I am so thankful for your generosity. You just doubled down on why you all are some of the best artists in the world today. Over here in the States they don’t give you the recognition you deserve. Love you guys and I feel blessed to be alive in your era. Thanks again Tim.

Let's karaoke 12:24 😀 I walked across an empty land I knew the pathway like the back of my hand I felt the earth beneath my feet Sat by the river, and it made me complete Oh, simple thing, where have you gone? I'm getting old, and I need something to rely on So tell me when you're gonna let me in I'm getting tired, and I need somewhere to begin I came across a fallen tree I felt the branches of it looking at me Is this the place we used to love? Is this the place that I've been dreaming of? Oh, simple thing, where have you gone? I'm getting old, and I need something to rely on So tell me when you're gonna let me in I'm getting tired, and I need somewhere to begin And if you have a minute, why don't we go Talk about it somewhere only we know? This could be the end of everything So why don't we go Somewhere only we know? Oh, simple thing, where have you gone? I'm getting old, and I need something to rely on So tell me when you're gonna let me in I'm getting tired, and I need somewhere to begin And if you have a minute, why don't we go Talk about it somewhere only we know? This could be the end of everything So why don't we go? So why don't we go? This could be the end of everything So why don't we go Somewhere only we know Somewhere only we know Somewhere only we know? Songwriters: Richard David Hughes / Timothy James Rice-Oxley / Tom Chaplin

I am beyond thrilled to learn about this song and band and to have an intimate, dedicated video that explains the thought process behind and way to play such a lovely song. I think I was perhaps sold a million times over when Tim said that Brian Wilson was inspiration, and the mention of Pet Sounds just made me feel so elated. I can say that I’ve decided to pursue music and make that what I want to do in life after having listened to that album. It’s really fantastic, and to hear such a direct honoring of that album and the man behind it is just phenomenal. At the very beginning I was thinking just ever so slightly the intro chord, the way that it’s played with the high A voicing, it made me think a bit of the intro to God Only Knows. The bit where Tim mentions voicing a chord with a bass note other than the root was good to hear too, and I would agree that there is definitely lots of uplifting movement in this song! Thank you for posting this video. Beyond the connections I identified with, it’s just extremely cool to see firsthand how the masters of their crafts lay out what they did and where they had their minds going when creating art.

Very, very generous and public-spirited of you do this, Tim. This may not be complex like Franz Liszt or even some of the great jazz gospel pianists' harmonies but that doesn't prevent it from being utterly brilliant. Great lyrics and melodies need great accompaniments to become truly great tracks. YOU have absolutely made one here. Watching you perform on several of the Keane I have had the good fortune to discover in the last few weeks, I had no idea you'd turn out to be such a wonderfully warm person and teacher. What a great combination you and Tom are, as well as the other guys who provide such support. Seems to me you've cracked the chemistry, that magical blend and balance those Liverpool lads had. Respect and nurture it, it's very precious.

This is just amazing, I was watching random videos on KZbin and then this awesome video appeared in suggestions. This is the first song I chose to learn in piano, and watching Tim actually making a tutorial made me waaaay excited. The super-talented pianist of my favorite band making a tutorial of how to play this song is like a good dream. I opened the video and ran to my piano without thinking for a second. Thanks Tim!, thanks Keane! The best thing of the quarantine without doubt. Keane is the best band, and you keep surprising me on every step. Love you guys ♥️

One of the best pianos I've heard in Keane's music is Russian Farmer's song. What an underestimated song! :-) How about a tutorial on this song? Thanks for making our lockdown days better! You're second to none, guys! All my love and appreciation!
