While in Iraq in 2005 when we weren't on patrol this was our go to but we played it with two decks four players and played the joker joker duce version. We kept the tally, and despite only playing after combat patrols I think we managed to get up to 3000 points with no winner. Sadly we never finished that game as 2 of the players lost their lives while deployed. I still have that note pad to this day with the unfinished game. RIP Roy and Gilo.

This game doesn't look very exciting; In my mind, I thought spades had a different gameplay altogether. This is much like war except spades outranks any other suit and the bidding. I love playing rummy 500 but I'm looking for another fun card game, preferably a 2-player card game.
@alliehollingsworth34664 жыл бұрын
Have you ever played rummy 2,500?
@Networkengie4 жыл бұрын
@@alliehollingsworth3466 well unless rummy 2500 is any different than 500, which I doubt, I've played it. I've played long rummy games, but it depends on how you score when the round is over. With what's left in hand when the round ends, some players give negative or deadwood based on the face card value or numbers, which is harder to count on the fly versus doing a 5 for numbered cards 10 for face cards and 15 for aces. I played long games in one sitting south rummy. But there again, the are a lot of variations to this game.

I invented this version over 30 years ago with slightly different drawing rules. Quote from another post. "I invented a version of two handed spades over 30 years ago so I'd have something to play with my mom. And it is a very good and fun version. 1. Shuffle the deck and place it in the middle of the table. 2. Mom always has the choice to draw first or second. :) 3. Draw two cards face down onto the table and choose which card to look at. 4. If the looked at card is a spade the player must keep it and discard the other card without looking at it. 5. Otherwise you may discard the looked at card and keep the second card or visa versa. 6. After each player has made 13 selections just play like normal spades."
@ripamerica76004 жыл бұрын
That sounds a little harder, even tho I suck at remembering which cards i burned. I just try to remember how many spades i threw away.

I've seen a version of this game where both players are allowed to see what goes into the discard pile, as the discarded cards are placed face up. What are the possible advantages or disadvantages of allowing both players to see the discards? I would think that seeing the discards would make it easier to bid correctly; am I right?

You could keep an eye out for the aces, kings and queens and all spades that go on the discard... considering those high cards are in the discard plus the ones you have in hand, you can get a pretty good idea of your opponents hand and predict how many tricks you could win more accurately

@@ripamerica7600 You're only allowed to declare blind nil when you're at least 100 points behind your opponent just like in the 4-player version of the game. Blind nil is a desperation move taken to attempt to catch up and hopefully steal the win.
