Seiously: This is definitely the most common complaint I could expect someone to have... but doing that could cramp the space on the cards, which are currently nicely minimal, and also could have another effect on the game that I thought of... I don't know how they could resolve this conflict. I know that if this game was played electronically there would be zero problem with displaying every card in the pile the right way around to every player, but for the physical card game you just can't have everybody on one half of a table... Uno doesn't have this problem with numbers except for 6 and 9, all arabic digits are otherwise very recognizable distinct symbols from all angles. We don't have symbols for colors, and in any case if we did that would defeat the stroop effect. The full words have to stay. It would seem the only solution is to write the word twice on the card, one rotated 180 degrees, but how? If you make two separate splats / bubbles to put the words in, you've significantly decreased the background color space. If you shove the two words into the same splat/bubble, then you might not have to increase its size too much to fit them and it could work. However... There is a second impact that could have on the game, which could be good or bad depending on your attitude. It generates a winning strategy for defeating the stroop effect: look at the top card, ignore its background color, look for the splat/speech shape: -if splat, look at the top word. it's rotated so you can't read it, so your brain won't automatically generate the word. look at its color and put down a card of that color. -if bubble, look at the bottom word. it's rotated so you can read it, so your brain _will_ automatically generate the word. put down a card of that color. This suggests that with the unmodified single-word cards, you're going to be better at responding to splats from people on the opposite side of the table and bubbles from people on the same side, and worse at the opposite. This isn't too unbalanced in itself I guess, so maybe it's acceptable.

When there's no play order (2-4 players), a player can cheat by stacking their deck in order ahead, and when the 1 color they are waiting on is drawn, they can dump the whole deck. So can others accuse this cheater after multiple cards are played? What would be the penalty? Also, should there be a delay between playing each card?
@originalman65992 жыл бұрын
why do you say that's cheating? it's just abusing the poorly thought out mechanics of this gimmicky game. don't think about it too hard this is dead on arrival anyway.
@hansjrgenlunderiksen22462 жыл бұрын
It's not cheating. It's just playing multiple cards really fast
@TJTrickster2 жыл бұрын
As long as you play 1 card at a time and with one hand, it is allowed. An accusation, however stops play and then anyone can possibly play next. Just don't expect the others aren't ready for a certain type of card, that might derail the plan.
@powguma2 жыл бұрын
I made the original comment to give the creator something to think about. This play may not be "cheating" in the strict sense because it's playing by the current rules. But this certainly ruins the fun to either give other players no chance at winning or to interrupt the play for an accusation and go through multiple cards. Perhaps "abuse" was a more correct term, and I believe it needs to be fixed.

Player 3: lemme see if what you are saying is true. (Player 3 checks the deck, smiling on the fact that it was paint card so it follows the color of the font and not the word) Player 3: You lied. Now draw one card, you liar! Are you allowed to play an illegal card on purpose? If yes, this would probably be better than just drawing one card. Also, what happens, if you play an illegal card (on purpose or on accident), and you get called out for it, draw a card, but still don't have a legal card to play?
@qaday1232 жыл бұрын
He said to ‘play the turn again’ so I assume that just means draw another card. And also what do you mean ‘better than drawing one card’? Drawing a card serves as a punishment, so I wouldn’t see why you would subject yourself to just gain a free card.
@TripleSGames2 жыл бұрын
if you play illegally and are caught, you take your card back, draw 1 penalty card, then take your turn again. If you don't have a playable card, then you draw 1 card and end your turn.

Serious complaint: blue text as shown in this video is very dark and does not look blue like the blue card backing looks blue - it looks nearly black. Sometimes the green is also a bit dark. This is a fine-tuning thing, but it could matter a lot for the fluency aspects of the actual stroop effect. Remember that the same color can look different against different background colors, and also that a solid color is going to look darker than a gradient that starts at thar color but fades into white. You might want to tune the colors so that e.g. you have 4 slightly different text blues and a bg blue such that blue-on-blue, on-green, on-red, and on-yellow all _appear_ the same as each other and as the background blue, even if that means making the text blues lighter. Maybe it's _just_ the difference between your current text blue and background blue, idk. Hopefully this isn't too intrusive of a comment, I understand nothing can be perfect (the original pure psych test itself can't possibly be tuned perfectly), just something I noticed. I otherwise love the idea of the game and I believe it has potential to be very popular. You clearly tried at all the design aspects, like making the splat a clearly different shape than the speech bubble, making the colors about as different from each other as you could, making the text readable, and the gameplay aspects too. Sorry to bury the praise after the criticism!
