There's no worse feeling than being priced out of the hobby you love, but that's unfortunate reality for millions of people living in these days of insane inflation and shrinking incomes.
But there is a way! By scouring classifieds and things like yard and garage sales, bulk piles of parts can be bought for pennies on the dollar from people just wanting to clear out their sheds and garages.
Here's a show and tell of just such a haul that we picked up on Facebook Marketplace last night. These deals pop up every day if you hunt for them, and can not only make your car building efforts easier and more affordable, but you can actually turn around and make a decent profit while you're at it.

For the longest time I’ve followed your channel and I have disagreed countless of times with many of the things you’ve done with modifying cars. A couple of weeks ago while you was on live with Doctor art and you explained the method to your madness, I finally understood why you do what you do. I finally understand now and I have nothing but the most respect for you.

That is the thing that bothers me most about Tony's channel! The fact that people fail to understand his mission. Then bash HIM repeatedly for doing things that they do not understand. While he is doing nothing more than trying to help the comunity. I have been watching since the beginning when Uncle Kathy Bananas had to shake him out of a tree! LOL. And have seen him take the verbal beating countless times by people who fail to understand why he does things the way he does. No matter how many times he explains it. And I have yet to see Tony spew bullshit. If there was a Hot Rodder fact-checker? Tony's record would be spotless. Unlike a lot of other channels. This guy immediately comes to mind kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJPadGSLnJiqkLs&ab_channel=%23Moparsareeverything I made a fact based comment on one of his videos calling him out. What happened? He deleted it like a pussy. You don't see Tony hiding behind the screen deleting comments because is skin is paper thin.

1:10 exactly what we did when buying a house. Approved for 250, we were looking at the 160s. Sure is nice to get up in the morning and play hooky from work if I want to and not worry about losing my roof. In fact most rents for a 2 bedroom apt cost more than my note these days. No sense in buying a snap on toolbox if it makes ya broke and can't fill it with tools.

I have parts for vintage cars I have never owned. I always want at least two carbs for my old car. The last time I sold a classic, I gave the buyer a 10 foot trailer full of parts for it that I forgot I had. I didn't need the intake, extra wheels, steering wheels, brackets, top frame, etc and I have a Buick Nailhead intake and carb in my garage now. I never owned a Nailhead. It was in a trade for something else. Always have trade material!

Yes, I'd hate to get stranded with a bad module. So, I always keep a new HEI module in the glove box, and carry a small tool box, just in case. They're pretty reliable though. In the last 35 years or more, I've only had one fail, and fortunately, it was a "no start" situation on my carport. Replacing the module cured it. That was 13 years ago, and, same car, still going today. I carry spare belts and hose too, since those could strand me too 🙂.

Hi, my name is Chris, and I'm a hoarder. LOL! I have so much stuff. Every car/truck I upgraded to HEI or electronic ignition I have kept the old points stuff. Because EMP. I have carbs, several Holleys, and several QuadraJets. Ya know....on your HEI dizzy there, Uncle Tony, it looks like it has the factory ignition control module....those are better than any aftermarket stuff, especially now. And it probably still works perfectly! It has that yellow spot of paint on it that gives it away as an original. And the pickup on that HEI is better than the aftermarket crap, too. Good stuff, and good advice, Uncle Tony! This is why we watch. Thanks, man! Take care, and stay cool, brother!

I agree, that Carter was a steal at 40 bucks! The last of the 9000 series Carter Competition AFBs were built by Weber when Federal Mogul owned the "Carter" name. Exactly the same carb as an Edelbrock Performer. They aren't exactly the same as a "real" Carter built AFB, but work just fine. Plus they tend to sell pretty cheap.

You got a lot of parts for $40. That's how you buy stuff. Even though the carbs are filthy and need to be gone through, they are still good pieces. They are great winter projects. Take one and clean it really good and go through it and put it in a bag and stick it on the shelf. It doesn't take that long and you have carbs that are ready to go, and after you do all the work to them, then they actually have some decent cash or trade value... There are so many people, especially racers, that buy new top of the line parts all the time, and then they decide that they want something different so they will almost give it to you just to get rid of it...
