Just wanted to say I appreciate your videos. I played for just over three years before life got hectic and I sat the pipes down. That was a year and a half ago. I've picked them back up in the last month and with the help of your clips I'm getting it back pretty quickly.Thanks, Brett

You are so patient and great to teach the bagpipe and the music sheet reading skills. Thanks a lot. Actually I just like bagpipe sound not learn the instrument. But now this video makes me understand bagpipe more. Thanks again.

Remember to put the beat on the first note of the embellishment, or on the single grace note, not on the following note.

Its a “TUNE’ not a “SONG.
@RickParkerGoogle6 жыл бұрын
Actually, CamperMan2018, Green Hills of Tyrol is in fact a song. It might be true here when playing only the music you might call it a tune, but this is, in its original form, a song. It has lyrics if you know the history of the song. I know, kinda technicalities, but it's true.
@Backs4more5 жыл бұрын
That is incorrect. This is a tune. It is based on an opera piece and was transposed o to Pipe music in about 1854. It was played as a military march. It was Andy Stewart that put words to it in the 1960’s, almost 100 years later.

@@RickParkerGoogle There is a song called A Scottish Soldier, that uses the same tune as Green Hills. This is a tune.
@RickParkerGoogle4 жыл бұрын
@@WootTootZoot That's all well and good @Back4smore and @WootTootZoot, but the the title "Green Hills of Tyrol" belongs to the the song of the same name regardless of whatever Rossini might have referred to the original tune. When you play it on the pipes you are playing the tune, that is true, but the title is of the song. It's just semantics guys. And yes, I'm in a pipe band, and we always refer to our sets as tunes, so yeah I get that.
