Thanks for this video! Great timing for me. I just joined our community band, voluntarily taking the 3rd part, hoping to avoid the high altissimo register. Who knew 3rd clarinet parts had those elusive notes in them? Well, surprise! Now I'm struggling to hit anything over D. So TMI, thank you 😊

Ahh yes, every now and then there can be some really high notes in even the 3rd (and sometimes even bass) parts! This video might be even more helpful for the regular altissimo notes: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fGrXk3egeKx3pZIsi=Fnk4Xr4iZtOOGiaL Have fun in the band!

Great video! I find this process much easier on the flute, but this video makes me want to try my clarinet again. I can't seem to play passed clarion B flat consistantly. I practice the altisomo early in my practice time, but its 30% hit 70% miss. My son says I'm practicing too long and my reed gets wet too soon. He's a saxophone player in highschool band. Also, as i started to get a little faster, notes in all registers were not playing well. I became frustrated and put my clarinet aeay. I still enjoy your videos though, and this one makes me want to try. It's just hard to tell if it's me or my clarinet (from Amazon). It works great for the very basics, plays in tune. But it feels like as i improve, i get worse too. I can only play slowly. If i play a bit faster, i get the note, but delayed. That is also very frustrating. Still, I enjoy your videos. 😊 🎶

I'm glad to hear you are still watching and enjoying my videos, and I hope you can start enjoying your clarinet again! Struggling about clarion Bb could definitely be a sign of the reed being too soft (or waterlogged like your son suggested). However, everything else that you are describing especially as you play faster really sounds like a covering the holes problem. Try the hand position stuff in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fXaQcpivmcSfac0si=KBeeliojBXA0TYSg and really think about getting the fingers well over the holes. And if you are playing on the reeds that came with your Amazon clarinet, definitely get some new ones. The Juno reeds are particularly good for beginners.

Like 3 octaves above one ledger line above the staff? That's crazy!
