I took penny whistle lessons years ago, and my instructor jokingly referred to F natural and F supernatural. His comment being that you never half-holed E into F the same way twice, so the note always had an eerie quality on the whistle.

It was originally played on the Low G by Finbar Furey, written to accompany the poem silent Annie, he could never put the words to the music and so the poem became an intro to the haunting melody.

I like your channel, but please try to credit composers for the tunes more often or more prominently. Not for traditional tunes so much - as the origins are often obscure - but for more recent tunes like Finbar Furey's 'Lonesome Boatman' and Thomas Walsh's 'Inis Oir' (Inisheer), where the composers are a matter of record and still alive, it would be nice to acknowledge them. :)

So strange when I have been working on a few different tunes you have come out with videos at the same time. The tune I have actually been working on is The Boatman by a guy named Ed Haley I think. When I was looking for the sheet music for it I encountered The Lonesome Boatman which is not a reel at all but an Aire I guess and here you are playing it. I guess it is time to learn this one as well!

Stephanie, This is so amazing... you are getting better and better. Your version is so smooth and beautiful. You have really been working hard and staying very busy practicing and who knows what else... I can't seem to find the time to do things for myself because of all that I'm doing for others...You are making videos in the dark now it appears... Your fingers are so flexible and perfect at playing those slides and other ornaments. I think your singing training and talents really come into play here in your whistling. You are just an all round talented person. Now, I have a question not pertaining to whistling... Do you have control over the type of adverts that KZbin puts at the beginning of your videos? And have you seen or heard a hint of spring there yet? Maybe its not night there... it could be just the camera angle... We just can't see the outdoors.
@CutiepieTinWhistle6 жыл бұрын
Burt Eastwood Glad you like! This was daytime, it's just winter here still, more snow and -5c today 🤣v with regard to the ads, no, no say whatsoever. They usually cover things you've personally been looking at online, but a lot are general too.

Oh, my favorite raccoon just popped through his doggy door... He is here for some late night snacks...cookies and cat food. I'll tell him that you said hello. He likes whistles... sometimes he shows up right after I start playing.

CutiePie Stephanie, It's been so long since I've checked out your Instagram page. You've added so much more to it. Thanks for reminding us to check you out there. I don't know much about Instagram because I'm not on it, but it appears that you have some sketches posted there. And as of now I'm assuming that you are the person that sketched those. Correct me if I'm wrong. If I am correct, I am much more than very impressed because there was a time when I was interested in art... mostly pencil drawings, some acrylics and wood carving. In high school I won some awards in art, my teachers had far more confidence in me than I did. I was always more interested in making things than drawing and painting... The reason I'm telling you this is because I know from experience just how time consuming drawing and painting can be and the talent it takes to do that type of art. I was planning on going to sleep early tonight, but after seeing your Instagram page I'm no longer in the sleeping mood. You always fill up my senses and change my chemistry. I never realized that you were an artist... The kind that draws and paints, but as I've said earlier... You are just an all round amazingly talented person. You are so sweet and I'm so proud that you consider me to be one of your biggest fans. If you would like please tell me a little bit about your art experience.

I do draw and paint, I like to use pen for drawing, and oil for painting. I also design and make lots of things, clothes, jewellery, bags, I actually used to own an art gallery where I sold all my own artwork and creations. Mainly photos and jewellery :) Funnily enough, I got a B in art in school - my worst grade :D haha
