I spent years try to figure that one out!! Thanks Charlie!! What threw me off was the alternate fingering and the fact the the E with first and second value don't sound the same. I knew there was a false fingering in it but couldnt pick whether it was the D with 1 and 3 or the E. Then tried it with an Eb before the E to make the rhythm/ note count right with. It's the weird slight pitch difference of the E open and E 1 and 2 and the triplet count that does it! Thanks SO MUCH!!

Smokin! This lick was shown to me at Berklee in '88 by George Zonce. I wrote it down, but lost it. I've tried to figure it out, but couldn't. Thank You for sharing Charlie! This is GRRRREAT!!!! I probably listened to this break before you were born, Charlie, and now you show me how he did it!! I am impressed! I actually think he stole it from Roy Eldridge - whom he used to copy. Listening to the old records it could be hard to tell who was who... Roy often used a cup and Diz the harmon.
