My goal is to play through this without having to use total concentration. I lose concentration for a second it could go wrong before the end of the song.I want to be relaxed and not have to concentrate as much and just jam on. Practice practice Keep on keeping on.Your the man.Thanks for sharing. For me this is extremely useful without making it through this basic beat I myself am not sure how one could be a drummer.👍

I did the same groove as you but I added some 16ths on the hats 2nd time around in chorus just for shits and fills! Love your vids!

Rob, You are AWESOME! I'm 53, played trumpet in the school band. Fast forward 30-40 years and my 20 yr old daughter is lead singer in her band. I bought a maple Mapex set for her and she ended up playing guitar. I want to play just one song with her band. You are a godsend man! And your vids make me make time to sit down and play. This one REALLY HELPED. Just reading the other comments, you are helping so many. I can't thank you enough for taking out time to do vids. I'll let you know when I finally get to be the noisy kid in the back keeping the beat. MY daughter's name is Macy Addis. Search her name on KZbin if you get a chance. She has a ton of songs out there. Patiently Waiting is the title of one of her originals. Lot of beat/rhythm changes but a pretty cool song. Thank you again for all you do. So freakin awesome! Bryan

My son said he isn’t confident about his playing. He told me he learned drum solos and parts of songs. I keep telling him that he needs to learn FULL songs and it will improve his confidence if he can play songs all the way through. He is FRUSTRATING! His teacher said he has natural rhythm and “gets it,” but getting him to practice is like pulling teeth! I wish he would learn full songs and make practice more entertaining, for him.
@LocaliLLocano2 жыл бұрын
Has he tried drumming to drum less versions of songs he likes ? Has he tried to follow how his favorite drummer handles that song? That would give him a confidence boost

Great video! Your content is always useful. I’ve only been playing for a few months on a cheap e-kit at home but it’s a start. I have the basic 8th notes down but my struggle lies with figuring out mentally how many bars have passed. I can kind of “feel” when 4 bars have gone by but I lose my place when 12 or 16 bars have passed. I wonder what other drummers think about when playing? I’ve tried counting in my head 1,2,3,4 2,2,3,4 but always get lost after awhile. Hitting the actual drums doesn’t seem to be my problem (after all, like Rob said in other videos, it’s all color-just focus on the subdivisions) my struggle is what to think about. Regardless, I’m having fun on my journey and that’s all that matters to me.

Rob a great lesson as always. I usually note the BPM of the song as well. If need be I can just use my metronome to practice at the BPM before playing with the song. For instance when you were counting down the song on your playthrough the quarter note was a lot slower than I initially heard. Lastly Drumeo has a neat form where you list say the Intro and # of bars, verse and # of bars, chorus and # of bars back to verse and then say outro. You can do this on a sheet of paper too. Keep up your great work Rob. Bill.

Oh this is GREAT! Thanks! Hey Master Brown, (or any other drummer actually.) Question on your audio set up. First what I have, my computer is plugged into a big outdoor style speaker, but it's still not quite loud enough to hear over my drums. So playing along with stuff goes wanky when I cannot hear it clear enough. I can put my ipod on with headphones, but then no one else can hear what I'm hearing. I see you wear earphones and am guessing you have audio of what you are listening to right in your ears as well as through the speakers. HOW do you do that? Is it just a simple matter of some kind of jack? I have yet to figure out how to get sound out of the speaker AND into my ear at the same time.
@greganderson30962 жыл бұрын
I doubt that he is playing anything through the speakers when he is recording. It is probably just in his earphones/ in ear monitors. If he was playing anything over the speakers all the mics on the kit would be picking it up. People try to avoid that sort of thing (bleed) when recording because it makes it hard to mix the recording.
@artmakersworlds2 жыл бұрын
@@greganderson3096 I see. Ok, well I'm not recording anything. I just need a way to hear the music over my drums without blasting the walls down.
@greganderson30962 жыл бұрын
@@artmakersworlds You should be able to get some sort of splitter cable so you can listen through your headphones and the speakers.
@artmakersworlds2 жыл бұрын
@@greganderson3096 Yea I need to figure something out. Tried playing along with this but as usual, gets to a point I can't quite hear the music. Thanks.

Im sorry to be off topic, but this seems to be a great community of drummers, so can anyone suggest some free music software that will enable me to cut a song into sections so I can work on the different parts individually? I love all kinds of music, but I just love playing metal music and stuff like lamb of god would be easier to work on with loops of each section. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated. Oh and be careful putting to much funk on the Djent beats! 😁
