I wrote both of them, my friend & I did. Pretty crappy but we had fun. Written by JJJS, Jim Jewell & Joe Skinner. I was playing bass back then.

if you tune down a half step couldnt you play regular g c d open chords and be in f#

Haha. Yes that is true. I think she was Merles 2nd or 3rd wife and they remained good friends after their divorce.
