I love the video and version of my favourite Hymn. In fact, I have requested it be sung at my funeral which God willing will not be for a long time. The author of the Hymn was Issac Watt.

Thank you, Wendell. I desire so much to improve my hymn playing ability on guitar and your mobile bass line has given me a place to begin to emulate your gifted style. It's beautiful! I encourage you to continue in your hymn production on youtube with guitar; I believe it is impacting God's kingdom!

Thank you so much. I love the way you play this and the chords you use. There are lots of ways to complicate it but you kept it uncomplicated. Beautiful!

This hymn is based on Galatians 6:14 - "But God forbid that I should boast, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ." The prolific Charles Wesley, who wrote more than 6,000 hymns, reportedly said he would give up all his hymns to have written this one. When I survey the wonderous cross ✝️ was written by Isaac Watts (1674-1748) has been called the "father of English hymnody." He wrote more than 700 hymns and popularized congregational hymn-singing throughout the world.
