Holy Toledo! Scott that was pretty damn awesome to see you take out that 40-50% of those swirlmarks and oxidation in those 4-5 passes with your DPC FLASH! Can't say enough about how impressive it is to see a seasoned "PRO" like yourself share just how easy it is to do some great paint enhancement with that fine line of paint correction jumping into the mix in all in "Direct" sunlight! The bottom line is that easily 75% of all of us "New Start-UP" detailers are going to be working in the direct sunlight! I had a huge smile on my face when you zeroed in with your camera on that 2nd half of the trunk lid after hitting it with your DPC Flash! :-) Mac

Never buff in heat of the day, if can’t be avoided invest in a canopy and some fans. Heating up clear coat results in burning through.

Scott - love the videos, you’ve given my son and I the direction to tackle his 15 year old pickup with factory paint and lots of clear scratches and oxidation. My question is what do you do with those areas where you can’t get in with a DA (even with 3” pad & backing plate)? Areas like back of the cab where the box is in the way or between tailgate handle and plastic trim on top of tailgate. I’m assuming you go old school with rags, rubbing compound and polishing compound. Also wondering what you do with old sun bleached plastic trim - I’ve tried the heat gun trick, it helped some, I’ve tried a couple different products that are supposed to restore the color - they helped, but not enough - I’m to the point of either replacing or possibly painting the plastic

Wow looks like great stuff! How’s it compare to HD speed? That’s what I use in direct sunlight and works great. Need to get my hands on this stuff.

Hi Scott. Question. Since putting up a canopy is not always time friendly. Is there any risk of leaving a blemish or causing damage to the paint in direct sunlight using a DA ? Reason i ask is that if you leave a rotary in one spot for too long the paint starts to smoke then a burn mark is left. When polishing outdoors with a DA and the paint is hot as hell to the touch. Why does this method in direct sun not burn the paint?
@willsrestorations Жыл бұрын
After being in this industry for nearly 40 years this is the most ridiculous damaging stupidest thing I've ever seen someone do on KZbin.

Scott, how did you prep the surface? Especially in direct sun. Does the clay bar and a ph neutral wash do the job? I’m scared to use an aggressive soap to prep the surface in the sun.

Scott, I love your videos. I also like the fact that you are demonstrating and giving your opinion of products. I would love it more if you could provide links to what you are using in the videos. This way I can see what the product is called and I can find it online. Sometimes you mention products that I have no heard of and so it is hard to know the name of it and if I am Googling it I know that I have the correct product. He's using a Dual Action or DA. The rotating action is highly randomized yet consistent friction under the pad. Hardly any hot points or high pressure spots. No real actual real world need to alternate the path. Diagonal paths would work just as well. Even using just a rotary for 22+ years I've never noticed any appreciable difference between cross hatching or all one direction but maybe I got lucky for that long😂.
@1Nevergone5 жыл бұрын
@@jamesp.noffsingerjr.7610 I understand he's using a DA, I've also used one for many many years but I don't think I've ever seen a detailer only going one direction regardless if it's a rotary or a DA.
@jamesp.noffsingerjr.76105 жыл бұрын
@@1Nevergone he actually has an early video questioning the need for cross hatching. Try it yourself and see if there is any appreciable difference for you. Maybe it doesn't work out for everyone or maybe this is just an old hand sanding leveling technique to ensure even leveling of a surface. Not really sure of the origins of that popular method. Good question for sure.

Holy Crap Scott!! Just did our two Nissans (Max and Juke - curvy and a beginners nightmare) and I must say, even though I'm not experienced, this product made my car look like a Pro did the work. Awesome Scott! Is it ok to use a let’s say orange medium cut pad with a polish, to get rid of more imperfections that a white polishing pad could not get rid of? Or would you say switch to a compound with orange pad to get those defects out and then hit it with the white pad and polish? Thanks so much for all your videos I’ve learned a ton of things from you!
