no, you will just be wasting your time. If your wheel is rough, start with 600,800 and then work to 1200. Really pitted wheels, start with 300

I only run to 600. But I use a variable speed grinder with zeyphr super shine x kit

My wheels have clear coat. How do you recommend getting through that?

you really cant polish it then you would have to strip the clear coat off

I just gave a set of GTA wheels to my powder coater because I was changing the center color from gold to black, he blasted the clear coat off the outer part for me. I just have to polish it to give it a shine.

Making an easy process 3 times as hard 😂 Do all your sanding first, 600, 1000, 1200, 1500, that the most important bit, to get rid of any imperfections Use a Large 6 inch cotton mop on a plug in mains drill, Not a battery one! using a good metal polish like Autosol go over the entire wheel, lips, edges the lot in one go, using as straight lines as you can, wipe clean and repeat any areas that need it Then use a Finishing soft foam pad or hand finish them with the same metal polish, wipe clean and then coat them with some carbon collective polished wheel sealant 👌🏻 Always Wash with PH neutral soap and They will clean easily and stay looking amazing for 2-3 years 👍🏻

Autosol is trash compare to zeyphr pro40. If you really want to do it properly you use a variable speed 9” grinder with rouge and an airway
