Adam, the same thing happened to you when you were riding alongside Toby on the 1190's, i think you were filming the KTM rally and you lost it around a bend on old tyres, you straightened up and lopped it over a log in the scrub. Nicely done, awesome content. Can't wait to see more on the war horse. Cheers mate

Oh man, awesome stuff as always, thank you so much for these videos. The more and more I practice and ride offroad, the more I realize that the key to traction is weight transfer and knowing when to load/unload suspension and wheels. Very often when our instinct is to shut the throttle, adding throttle to unload the front is actually the right move and you glide over a pothole that you would otherwise bite into.

You are amazing speaker and teacher... 🙂 I am 37 and i recently bough a dirtbike for the first time. I have a lot of experiance driving the offroad bicycle and practical work in nature with tractors and cars. Locking front wheel on opstacles can be deadly and can damage front suspension of a car, bike, etc. Rear wheel can forgive you everything, front will not. For dirtbikes, as faster you go, wheels need to be free with no locking and braking on opstacles or curves. Bike has enough weight and inertia to correct your mistake under the normal conditions. The knowledge how physics works can help a lot. For young people, skills are important. For us, older ones, we can understand from our experiance. I found myself that i can predict whats gonna happend without any professional skills only because I am familiar with how things work in practice. These days, i practicing how to brake with front wheel only and front wheelie. Damn, its hard to predict how surface will react. Grass, dirt, mud, snow, sand... 😀

I've been ADV riding for about 20 years and I love watching these videos. Just listening to something I've learned through experience (often the hard way) explained so perfectly is really satisfying. It's like "yes, that's exactly what it's like!" Also, although I'm still learning new stuff all the time, I used to be more deliberate about honing one particular skill at a time. These videos help me focus on making that a willful activity instead of just going out for a ride.

Your ability to describe the dynamics and technique is fantastic. Even more impressive is how you break down the practice to get the techniques cemented. I've watched a few clinics by top hard enduro riders and they haven't quite broken techniques down as well as you are. I doff my cap, sir. I'm a conservative rider and have confidence struggles trying to improve my riding, stuff like big logs across the trail. Got the technique but not the balls. A big log caught me out one day and I had to hit it on the fly, for some reason my brain focused on where I needed to be rather than fixating on the obstacle. In a blink I was over it like Toni Bou, I was more shocked than if i had crashed. Been my go to ever since, where do I need to put the bike after the obstacle?

Great video! I like the recent direction you are going with more "How-To" videos. Regarding this technique the big bike seems to require more technique to loft the front wheel than it does on a 450. For me, it works better if I have the engine spinning a bit before trying to bring it up, where as on a 450 will lift the front end right off idle.

Thanks for this video! Unfortunately I came across it after I broke some ribs, but it will help me practice something to be prepared for the next time I find a sneaky obstacle when I get back on the bike. Hit a deep sharp ditch on the trail I didn’t see going too fast. I only knew how to slow down as much as possible and knew as soon as I hit it what I did wrong with the front end being compressed until it locked iself into that ditch and threw me far and hard.
