I too bought a bag of Happy Frog to up pot into for the first time this year!! Got all 70 of my tomatoes done a few days ago, peppers will happen this upcoming week. Been fighting some aphids on my peppers and I wanted to see if I could knock them down a bit before transplanting but they are persistent little buggers. But thanks for the video!! They are looking better and better each week!

Nice looking set of Spring 2024 plants Baus! Good start with the up potting! That could also be a way to pass some time up this was as a Blizzard moves in tomorrow. -Bob...

Nice soil! All the different types of soil I tried have, like you mentioned, had a bunch of twigs etc in them. Some the size of a finger... And you also tend to get a minor fungus gnat invasion with it as well 🤪Wonder if the have similar type of/quality soil here in Sweden 🤔That tool (the dibber) seems quite handy. I usually use my finger to make the hole, but that spade looking part of it would be nice to have! Nice split! I had left mine "a bit" too long in their tiny pots before potting up so I had to dunk some of them in water to make the separation easier. What are those dark plants in, i guess, 13 to 15? 🖤
@bausgrows9 ай бұрын
So far I am still very happy with this happy frog soil! I don't think its available at all in EU but maybe Canna has something similar? I uh, I don't know offhand which dark plants you are asking about but I have a lot of deep purple beauties this year!
@PreatorRaszagal9 ай бұрын
@@bausgrowsThanks for the tip. Canna seems to be available in Sweden. It costs about twice as much as the soil I usually buy, but I might give it a try next season just to start seeds in (if it doesn't have a *lot* of added nutrients) and when doing the first potting up. If that isn't better I must just start seeds in coco coir.

Have you found if those taller and skinnier pots require more potting soil than the squatter more cubic 3.5" pots? Edit: Also, have you noticed any improvement of vigor/root development in those taller 3.5" pots? Thanks!
@bausgrows9 ай бұрын
Yes, they require a bit more media but it is absolutely worth it. I will never go back to shallower pots after 4 years using these. I find much better root growth, far less issues getting rootbound/wound around the pot. Roots grow downward by default, giving them more space to do so, plus bottom watering to encourage that downward growth has made a noted difference in the health and vigor of my plants both pre and post transplant. Thank you so much for watching!
@jonny25299 ай бұрын
great video, this was very helpful for me. how does bottom watering work?
@bausgrows9 ай бұрын
Bottom watering just means you fill the tray at the bottom with water for the plants to wick up from the base. I usually add about a half inch of water into the 1020 trays and the plants will pull up what they need within 20-30 minutes. If there is a lot of standing water left I will carefully drain it so they don't sit in standing water for more than 60 minutes.

What’s the betting odds on the flower picking and how do I get in the pool? I snagged only 4 Depot plants this year and have been picking the flowers but I know 100% that’ll be short lived lol😂
