Do you really want to send one person off to call for help before you locate and dig out the person buried by the avalanche?

Need for advanced life support is almost a certainty if someone is buried, so yes, if you can get it coming, call 911, and or send an SOS with your InReach or similar device. That said, if you are sure that cell service is a long skin, or ride to the top of the ridge etc., or you donlt have InReach, then probably not.
