*** In this video I mention the book "Love is Letting Go of Fear" by Dr. Jampolsky. I do not recommend this title anymore. I have come to discover it's origins in "The Course on Miracles", which is really just baseless and nebulous spiritual philosophy that is not grounded in reality. So, please omit this recommendation. Thanks so much!***
Imaginative Prayer is a spiritual practice where we invite God to use our imagination in order to relate to us Imagination in prayer is a tool to help us encounter and expereince God's presence and God's purposes. Like our dreams, can help us know who God is and who we are.
In this Spiritual Practice Workshop you will learn how to use imaginative prayer to encounter God.
If you are interested in more resources, I suggest:
In the Palaces of Heaven by Christopher Carter
Seeing is Believing by Greg Boyd
Here are a few more exercises. I suggest recording them on your phone and them playing it back to yourself.
Exercise 2: In the Fire of God
Setting: Imagine a vast northern coniferous forest. In this forest is a rectangular grassy clearing several hundred meters in each direction. In the the middle of this field is a circular alter of eternal fire. The flames are large and the colours of yellow, orange and gold. It is evening, the sky is full of stars int he clearing it is bright as day because of the light of the fire.
Background: Fire is the picture of God's presence and glory. It is a picture of love so strong it purifies and consumes anything that stands in its way. (Exodus 13:21)
Ask:
What are you smelling? Hearing? Seeing?
What do you notice about God's presence as you engage with the fire?
What are you feeling and sensing?
Who else is around the fire with you?
Imagine Jesus inviting you to step into the fire. What are you feeling?

Please.. Please.. do not do that... Demons are workin through imagination and fantasy the most. Let us not delude ourselves. This is Orthodox view, 2000yrs old. God bless you +

Thanks for participating on this channel and for your thoughts and your concern for me! I would respond however, that I don't hold the same view - It is well understood that your imagination is God given and a tool for understanding yourself and the divine. Evil permeates all things, and is often more subtle than we realize. Yes, it's true that evil does take over certain things in the world, like in War or in certain groups etc... but imagination or fantasy, is not one of those things - as our imaginations are good and useful and required for entering scripture, being creative, healing etc... I hope you see my point.

@@amandapaliasthank you for your response. Of couse we need to imagine things if we plan or do smth :) . Its more about imagining things during prayer. We can be deceived very hardly. We become open to demonic influences (like in new age meditations for example). I didnt know that also before i became an Orthodox. And i see alot of love in this warning. Also not to just believe visions or dreams. 99% is not from God :) Our church fathers (saints) are talking about this alot.

Sadly its nothing good about this. I always admired this but now i know the truth. In Orthodoxy there is not even one single case about it. I am saying this out of love really... :) You can ignore all this of course.. 😌
