Thank you Jennifer for showing us how you apply the Alexander Technique ever so often because if we are not standing in the right position, we will just pick up injuries along the road. I notice the way you hold your bow and that in itself is a relaxed hold but my, oh my, you can play beautifully!

Thank you, Eugenie! Also, when I think of standing, it's not so much about a right position as it is an attitude for allowing FLOW to move us. Thank you so much for watching and commenting! :)

Thank you for sharing this wonderful, behind the scenes, view of how you prepare for a performance. Like most members of an audience, I did not understand the pressures on individual performers or the physical strains that have to be managed when playing. The actual performance was brilliant.

This is wonderful, the universe brought me to this video just when I needed it. I adore baroque music and and learning to let the logistic perfectionist side of me release and be present with any music I play without ego or tension and just remember the joy and energy I feel when I'm in the moment playing violin. Thank you so much for sharing this✨

Interesting, noticing how is the body reacting to practice will make overtime to subconscious correct the posture while playing like one do with intonation

what is that thing under your violin? Also I wanna ask, is your violin made in olden times or now times? thanks
@JenniferRoigFrancoli4 жыл бұрын
Ah, thanks for asking! That thing under my violin is a home-made and very authentic (just kidding) bit of styrofoam and rug-gripper, to help me be more at ease when I play. I am not a purist; I believe in supporting one's health and well-being over accommodation to external or historical conventions. That said, many people can play at ease without a shoulder-support.... but in my experience, almost nobody these days can play without tension in the shoulder and neck area. And... my violin is a contemporary reproduction of Paganini's del Gesu violin, made by James Wimmer in 1985. I love it. :)

Is there any difference to hold the baroque bow with the modern bow?
@JenniferRoigFrancoli3 жыл бұрын
Great question! Yes, the hand is place farther up on the baroque bow than on the modern bow.

You should really do more of these videos with the baroque violin!

I just wonder...how can you keep it on your neck steady like that...and shift? I just can't keep mine. I am a beginner, okay, but...every position, every attempt seems wrong and it's achy everywhere. My thumb keeps going up and up. Helppppppp :)
