This was the first Varnam, my guru tought me. And the same traditional pattern. Another thing, you are the only one who answers the posts. Again, you also resemble my guru, Ramakrishnan, whom we used to affectionately call, Ramakrishna Maama. Thank you for your excellent way of teaching. 🙏🏻

Namaste sir. Very nice explanation about the most prominent field in Carnatic Music. I have a doubt. Poorvangam is sung in double beat talam. Should we use the same talam in Uttarangam or the single beat talam? pls clarify.

As I explained in the video, the "traditional" method of singing involves two speeds up to mukthai swarams back-to-back (wherein you use double-beat or 2-kalai taalam); then switch to single-beat taalam from charanam (sung in 'madhyama kaalam', recitation speed being halfway between the first and second speeds - similar to singing a faster first speed, using 4 notes per beat as in first speed). Hope this clarifies.

Thank you Sir. Have heard that Varnams for practise are also sung in a slower speed (like half speed) in order to get mastery on time duration, taala, and slow gamakas. But haven't ever heard that style, would you know and if so, please demo ,🙏🏼

Thank you for your comment. Yes, Varnams can be practised in half speed as well as in tisra nadai for the overall mastery of beat cycles. I'll try to put together some examples later.
