Great video Loree. I always appreciate your paint/refinishing expertise. We love using SFO on our refinished pieces here in Australia & they sell well in my shop space in Brisbane.

Want to refinish to small portable "island" in my kitchen which is currently finished in a walnut stain. How to do it please?

To restain your piece this is the information you need. You don’t need to apply another product before Stain & Finishing Oil. This video shows you the correct prep for SFO kzbin.info/www/bejne/Zmi3dmaMgrajj5Isi=OWT_WXYC4w0cZNZx Stain & Finishing Oil - SFO-is a wood conditioner, stain and top coat all-in-one that offers exceptional durability in high-traffic areas like table tops, kitchen cabinets, and even flooring. It can be used on bare or prepped wood to change the colour and protect and seal, or over previously painted surfaces to create faux finishes. No additional top coat is required - it is highly durable as is. If you’re looking for added durability, applying a coat of Natural will increase sheen and durability without intensifying your colour. Check out this KZbin video kzbin.info/www/bejne/jne1m4iwqcaIn6c Our special blend is highly concentrated in pigment, so a little goes a long way. The 237 mL container will cover the same area as 1 litre of comparable stains. Directions: How to use on bare wood, apply generously by pouring or brushing onto the evenly sanded surface, and remove excess after 10-15 minutes. If desired, add a second coat (after re-coat time of 9 hrs) for a deeper colour or more sheen. The pigment in it stains your wood accentuating the grain. SFO is a combination of natural oils and resins that penetrate into wood fibres to create a durable, scratch-resistant, waterproof finish. It does not leave a surface film that sits on top but instead soaks into and becomes a part of your wood.

Great video. Would you ever use a wood conditioner prior to using SFO to even out grain consistency like pine?

I know SFO conditions your wood too, but you could also add a wash of Odourless solvent first before applying the SFO that works great too!

What about the bare furniture from ikea, like the RAST dresser for example? Does it need to be sanded prior to using the stain and oil?

We have many exmples of IK|EA acks on our website, but as long as the wood is bare you should be good to go! www.fusionmineralpaint.com

I have an oak kitchen table that I over sanded the top and now it won’t accept stain well… I tried several different types and it just slid off… now it’s blotchy and horrible looking. Would you suggest painting and then using the SFO?

It is possible you have closed the grain by sanding with too high a grit. Check out this video for prep for staining You don’t need to apply another product before Stain & Finishing Oil. This video shows you the correct prep for SFO kzbin.info/www/bejne/Zmi3dmaMgrajj5Isi=OWT_WXYC4w0cZNZx

If using SFO over FMP, how long do I wait if I want to do a second coat of SFO?
@FusionMineralPaints3 ай бұрын
We recommend waiting at least 8 hrs before re-coating.

Is there a video for using Stain and Finishing Oil to darken a table without painting it?
