This was really interesting. I've been enjoying your videos! Do you think this would work in Indiana? I'm tempted to try it on a few hives.
@ChiltonBeeCompany

It will work anywhere but you've got to start out with good stock. You're best bet is to order treatment free queens from somebody next year and requeen your hives with those

How many hives do you currently run?
@ChiltonBeeCompany

That's a good question. Probably around 450 at the moment. I've finally got some help so we'll probably double that next year

If you don't mind answering this question. How are you making your lids? Are they just slats or do you have them like tounge and grove? I am trying to be substantial, and I have a lot of scrap wood that I could make tops and bottoms, but I need advice. 😊, just a girl from Kentucky that loves Jesus and honey bee's.

We buy them but they are tounge and groove. They certainly don't need to be. Anything that will keep the rain off them is sufficient. I do prefer better insulation in the top than the sides of the box. It helps keep condensation from building above them in Winter. That's one reason I use the inner cover style that you see in my videos

Hey Brad. I recently started running Russians. Is there any way I can get two or three queens asap sent to me overnight for my fall splits. If you have a few extras? If no. No problem I just understand. I love your system. It all makes so much more sense together with everything else we would know about bee keeping . I am using Coy and a couple Foley. Like my Coys. Thx.

I do not have any more queens to sell this year. I will be raising a lot more queens next year. Sorry I can't help you with that. I started out with a lot of queens from the Coys and their partners and still implement some here and there into my genetics. Thank you for watching

What is your ratio of sugar to water this time of year with your feeding.
@ChiltonBeeCompany
@ChiltonBeeCompany 2 ай бұрын
I am feeding 1:1 right now. It does a good job of growing out splits. It provokes hives to draw comb, brood up and also adds some weight onto the hive
