Amateur enduro. Honestly just go do it. No videos can prepare you for the stress before race. You realize your preride days were nothing like the actual race day, you will make a lot of mistakes, you will find that the snack you packed wasn't nearly enough... but you know what? You will be better the next time you go!

Just raced north mountain enduro in Darrington, WA. This was my first enduro and worst part I never rode black diamond's before. About 1 min into first stage I realized I'm not ready for the gnarl. Came in last in my group but I finished all of it. This gives me hope I can improve for the next year, hopefully.

Oh my gosh, that's huge! Especially considering that you hadn't ridden that before!! Nicely done man. Black diamonds are probably much different in your part of the world also... Black diamonds here in Michigan aren't really anything but in the Pacific Northwest, however I could just imagine. Nicely done man!

Some really good points on making sure the bike is the best it can be. Could we have some tips on making sure the rider is also in good condition. Could we have a part 2 focusing on training. What type of drills could we incorporate into the weekend rides to prep for a race. Thanks!

Just in time, going to do my first Enduro on Saturday and my first DH race on Sunday, all on a hard tail (Vitus Sentier VRS)

@@ApexHerbivore why not lol? The DH and stage 1 are the same course and at least according to Strava I'm decently quick on my HT for it (7th best time). Never raced before so I'm doing both. It's my home DH park and I've ridden there every weekend this summer. At least Enduro has a HT category but for DH I was smoking people in practice Saturday so we'll see.
