Don't worry. All you gain from the expedition will stay when your save is converted to normal after the expedition. - Great idea I forgot in the video (thanks @0179zman) - Repair Kits! Obtained from Pirate Stations and Derelict Freighters... Thanks to @jayedson3408 for the following suggestions: (1) First point is what @oldfartrick mentioned. There is no need to allocate any of the Tech slots to Ship or Multitool mods, since they all transfer over on your cloned items once you reach the Anomaly. Just make sure, as you mentioned, to have some materials in Cargo you can refine to have around 5K nanites to purchase both your multitool and ship when you visit the first time. The amount of tech you have loaded on these items in your main save does not affect the Nanite cost to Dupe when on the Expedition. (2) Bring a stack of something that directly sells for Nanites so you don't even need to refine them. For example, unopened Sentinel Shards and Tech Modules. (3) Bring stacks of unopened Modules regardless. Visit your local Pirate Station and load up on Suspicious Modules for your Exosuit (Life Support, Movement, Defense, Hazard Protection). They stack up to 20, so you are effectively bringing 80 modules and only using 4 slots, vs using those 4 slots for only 4 mods with "known" stats. You will absolutely find at least 1, if not 3 of each type that are superior X class Mods once you open them on the Expedition. Any unused/inferior ones can be salvaged for needed materials. You can also buy Suspicious Tech Packets from a Pirate vendor - these stack to 50 per slot. It's a gamble when you open them of course as far as what you will get, but they are considered Cargo until opened so do not use any of the precious 8 available Tech slots - another way to bring a TON of Tech modules with you on the Expo to use, sell, or salvage. (4) Repair Kits were also brought up in another comment. (5) Planetary Charts, specifically Exosuit Upgrade Charts, so you can expand your available Exosuit Tech and Cargo space. Maybe Distress Signal Charts or Echo Locators if you like, but if you are going to Dupe a top tier ship, why bother unless it's an Objective like it was in Adrift. Same goes for things like Anomaly Detectors and Emergency Signal Scanners...it's more of a personal preference/quality of life thing at that point. Often times, like using an Emergency Signal Scanner to find the Derelict Freighter for Adrift, it may just be a waste of Cargo space when you are given a Freebee as a previous Objective Reward, unless you are trying to rush that objective earlier than you receive the free one.

@jayedson34085 ай бұрын
I cleaned up my guide. It's a longer read, but it checks out, and is tailored to Liquidators. Here you go. Here's my suggested list of Tech and Cargo to bring from a main save, if you don't want to waste time farming and refining other than on the first planet to do your repairs and be able to build a Hyperdrive since we don't have access to the Anomaly at this point. I'll actually start with what you need to farm or do to get to space before the list, but you cover this already: After repairing your Launch Thruster and Pulse Engine, you want to have enough Chromatic metal to build your Hyperdrive and fuel it after getting to space, so make sure to collect around 1000 Copper. Before going to space, refine at least 425 Chromatic metal and make your Microprocessors and Warp Cells. You need 200 Chromatic to make 5 microprocessors, 100 to make 4 Warp Cells, plus an additional 125 to build a Hyperdrive. The other materials are Oxygen, Ferrite Dust, Dihydrogen, Carbon and Condensed Carbon. Just get what you need. Now the Suggestions: 1. Tech. Visit your local Pirate Station(s). Purchase stacks of up to 20 (this will take some reloading of your restore point in between purchases) of the 4 different types of Suspicious Exosuit Tech. This will use 4 of your Tech slots for 80 unopened mods. This gives you plenty of opportunity to open as many as you need on Expedition to buff out your Exosuit, sub par ones can be salvaged for materials, and any unopened ones can be sold for max Nanite value at a Tech Vendor at a space station. Or open them all, we have a similar option to easily get 10's of Thousands of Nanites with Cargo without needing to spend the time refining. For the 5th slot, still always a good idea to bring a Personal Refiner, this leaves 3 open slots for whatever you want (maybe Airburst Engine so you don't need to bring Phosphorous or buy the plans, Efficient Water Jets to save bringing or farming Living Pearls, and an Oxygen Rerouter so you don't need to farm or bring Crystal Sulfide). I don't suggest bringing any Multitool or Ship Tech because anything loaded on those from your main save will transfer when you copy them once you reach the Anomaly. 2. Cargo. Also at a Pirate station, load up on Suspicious Packets, these stack to 50. Same deal here, other than the fact they are random, so you will have a ton of useless ones you won't need to open and can just sell them for Nanites. This gives you all the Nanites you need to Copy your Ship and Multitool and buy Blueprints at the Anomaly. Ion Batteries would be another thing to add here to charge Exosuit Tech. This leaves the other 22 Cargo slots to bring whatever you want, since you really don't need anything else if this is your core setup. There are no Repair Objectives so you don't need Repair Kits or Wiring Looms, so just the basics, again so you don't have to farm and can bang this thing out in a few hours and have what you need to recharge and install any other Blueprints. Oxygen, Carbon, Sodium, Ferrite Dust, Tritium, Silver, Copper, Chromatic Metal, Radiant Shards if you are copying an Interceptor, Unstable Plasma for your Launchers, maybe a Nutrient Processor but you get a fee one early iirc. This is literally all you need and will allow you to complete many of the objectives that are further ahead in chronological order in the Second system immediately after visiting the Anomaly. Some of this stuff you might gain as a Reward later (pre-loaded even) from some of these objectives, but it saves needing to wait. There is an objective to use 1800 rounds of ammunition, and you ultimately get a pre-loaded Boltcaster and Pulse Spitter from other objectives which makes this faster, so even if you prefer to use things like the Neutron Cannon or Blaze Javelin, which are energy weapons and don't consume ammo, you can always install one of these faster firing high magazine weapons on your main save tool you are going to copy to do this objective in a few minutes by just shooting at nothing, then remove them. The "Hit 4 enemies with a single Grenade" objective can be completed with a Paralysis Mortar or Plasma Launcher. This advice gets away from the Expedition but still applies, but I tend to specialize my Multitool to 1 main and 1 secondary type weapon so they are maximized and all I do is swap the tool vs having to toggle between a bunch of different installed tech on a "Jack of all Trades" type setup. I also play on PC so it is easier to swap Tools via Hotkeys, but I find the best setups (using a Voltaic Amplifier for the 21% dmg increase to stunned enemies) are using a Neutron Cannon with Paralysis Mortar to stun, or Blaze Javelin with Plasma Launcher since the Blaze Javelin with a Waveform Oscillator will stun, and the Plasma Launcher does tons of dmg. Anyway, hope this helps!

I have just over 3700 hours in the game Here is what I cache for Expeditions, and why. You have 8 slots for Technologies: 1) Personal Refiner Mark 2 Why: to refine Nanites and raw materials into other materials you need. Next are all Space Suit modifications, your suit is your weakest point since you are going to pay the Anomaly to re-create your best Multitool and Spaceship. Remember you can get these pre-selected modifications back at the end of the expedition, so you can store them and use again. 2) Suit shield/health Mods, "S" class mods a full stack of 20. Why: you all ways start out at only +3 health, use the mods till you get 3 at 33/33 health and shields, store the rest back at the space anomaly. 3) 3 "X" class environmental shield mods, pre-selected for max shielding at least 9/9/9/9 % shield Why: you may end up in pretty nasty places, you don't want to be worrying every second about your hazard bar. 4) Pre-selected Heat, Cold, and Toxic resist mods. Why: you will buy the Radiation mod at the Anomaly to round out your eviro-hazard defense. you will cache the supplies to build the Radiation mod, but not the others. You have 24 slots for general cargo: First: Currency (8 slots) 1) Tainted Metal full stack. Why: to refine to Nanites, this should yield enough to fund re-creating your Multi-tool and Ship and everything else you'll need. 2) Starship AI valves (about 4), yields 48 million credits. Why: your money troubles are over. 3&4) Salvage Data two stacks of 30. Why: to buy things like Exocraft bays, solar panel plans etc. 5&6) Suit slot upgrades, two stacks of 30, the purple kind that you redeem at space station kiosks or the Anomaly. Why: 30 for Technologies, 30 for cargo. nothing more annoying than not being able to install the tech that you cached. (These are found at the Guild envoys in space stations for free. You ARE keeping track of who gives out what at each station right?) 7) Navigation Data, full stack of 40. Why: In addition to being able to recall your ship these are used to buy maps (hence designated as currency). 8) Wiring Looms, full stack. Why: ok not exactly currency but you'll need these if you build an exocraft. Next, Raw Materials 12 slots, alphabetical order, all full stacks: 1) Carbon 2) Chromatic Metal 3) DiHydrogen 4) Fe (iron) 5) Gold (for solar panels & other technologies) 6) Oxygen 7) Paraffinium (for exocraft techologies) 8) Pugneum (for exocraft technologies) 9) Silver (needed for various exocraft technologies) 10) Sodium 11) Tritium (ship fuel) 12) Uranium Why: with these you should be able to make just about anything you need with your MK2 processor, that is not a gathered resource (eg. living pearls, Crystal Sulphide). Last, Consumables in 4 slots, stuff nice to have so you don't have to make it: 1) Ion batteries, full stack. Why: environmental protection. 2) Ship launch fuel, full stack. Why. Pain in the neck to keep making, plus you'll have lots of room on you ship since it is re-created empty. 3) Warp Hypercore, full stack. Why: not likely to need full stack but still it's a pain to make all the time. 4) Unstable plasma, full stack. Why: gotta fuel your secondary weapon (plasma launcher, paralysis mortar etc.) As soon as you get to the Anomaly, grab your refiner and the tainted metal and begin refining your nanites. Grab your Suit expansion tokens and go up to the Suit upgrade and use all the tokens while the nanites refine. Peel off some nanites and buy the anti-Radiation mod. Go back down to the Cache and grab the rest of your stuff. As soon as you have enough nanites, have your Multi-tool and Ship re-created. Install all your cached technologies into your suit, install your anti-radiation mod. Begin using the Suit Shield mods until you have 3 at Max 33/30. Put the remaining mod tokens back in the cache, you don't need to carry them. Hop in your ship, go have fun.

So, I broke this up. When bringing tech with you, as you mentioned in the pinned comment, don't worry about your multitool or ship. Bring exosuit tech and freighter tech. #1 & #2 should always be a Matter Beam Transmitter and a Temporal Warp computer. With these, you will be able to summon your freighter to any system and have full access to all of your storage as soon as you get your freighter. Since you generally get access to the Anomaly after 1 jump and your first freighter encounter requires 5, you should always have access to the Anomaly by the time you get your freighter(there are exceptions). Also be sure to bring a stack of silver and as many Salvaged Frigate Modules as you can muster up to 1 stack. You'll never need the freighter tech, but the freighter base parts are key. Being able to immediately get all the best parts, like the scanner, teleporter, double grow room, and exocraft materializer will change your life. For me, having access to the room expansions really helps it feel less claustrophobic.

the only important thing is 8x10 stacks of sentinel tec mods - each stack you can sell for around 4800 nanites. then you can make a copy of your full upgraded multitool and ship from your normal savegame. after this, the whole expedition ist just a "fly to next" waypoint and collect the reward for each phase - since you can BUY all important stuff/tec. the rest is useful but will only help you to geht through the expedition faster (exo suit moduls / stacks of needed resources / salvaged data)

@@Herr-Hart you might be confused because it’s not enemies, it’s animals. The idea is, you keep scanning animals on different planets until you find one aggressive enough to count for the mission. The game has a stat for aggression that it tracks even if you can’t see it. So you focus on them with the analysis visor until they’re fully “discovered” and just do that until you find one that counts. Why would you just not bring a source of nanites, buy your reg save multi and ship, then have all tech slots for exosuit?

I may not be saying this in these exact words in the video, but I do explicitly explain what to do if you intend to clone your ship and multitool. I also explain what sources of nanites you can use and why they are better than others. So, I guess you got bored a bit before that part. Sorry for that if that's the case. But if you're asking why not just say "bring a source of nanites and you're done"? Well first because I wanted to prepare viewers even if they're new to the game and don't have such sources. And anyway, if I said that, the video would be over in 20 seconds.

@@goodguysfree ok, but you also didnt mention hyliane brains, 10 refines to 2300 in about 3 min, and would be fun for even new folk to go looking for interceptors. First, I really appreciate your comments! Hyaline brains is a different approach. Like you said - they stack to 10, giving 2300 nanites, which is - in my opinion - still not as good as tainted metal. Plus - to find interceptors you need echo locators - which require you to farm dissonance resonators, etc. Yeah it could be fun, but I had to choose an approach and recommend it. What I presented is what I think is the best approach. Comprehesive? As in - includes every possible option? You know that's not possible... Right? It would make the video 60+ minutes even if I artificially speed up my speech, and nobody would watch any of it. There's no problem to pack up a personal refiner. Im super new to this game, so this is a bit confusing. It seems like there is a big advantage for existing characters starting the expedition vs the starting a new character and doing it? If a new character does not have any of this stuff, how can we move it over?

Yes - existing players can get the benefits of starting from an existing save that has many resources. If you are totally new - simply play the expedition, and when you finish it, use that save file to continue playing your game. There will be guides to how to complete the expedition easily from all the major creators. I am not sure I will have the time to create my own guide, because of obligations to my day-job. No - you can use your main save file. Just go to the Anomaly, and walk behind the Nexus, under the balcony leading to Nada and Polo there is a kiosk of sorts - Expedition Terminus. This is what I have shown in the video - it allows you to place up to 8 tech items and 24 cargo items that you can later obtain during the expedition. When you start the expedition in this way, your main save file is - for lack of a better word - saved, and you enter the expedition. When you finish the expedition you get all of your rewards moved from the expedition back to the main save.

In the vast majority of cases, no. You can use nanites to claim expedition rewards from any existing and any future save files that you have/will have. There were a few small cases that you received something during the expedition, which is an item and it was only in that save. The example I have is the Shroud of Freedom, which is a head customization option (this is what my character wears in the video's intro). For some reason it wasn't an item you could claim in other save files.

Ok. This is probably going to get long, so buckle up. First off, they recently changed the copy ship feature so that you can no longer copy a ship if the same ship is still in your inventory. This is particularly important to know when fishing for Iron Vulture(IV) parts. During the expedition, you will need to claim the one from the QS vendor FIRST, break it down, THEN copy your ship. It will NOT let you claim a second one if there is already one in your inventory regardless of where it comes from. When leaving the expedition, if you upgraded your IV along the way, you will need to scrap your original IV BEFORE you can copy your expedition version. And, if you want additional parts, you will need to break down each successive IV in order to claim the next one. My recommendation to get around this is pretty simple. Don't use your IV in the expedition. Then, before you switch back to your main save, buy the IV from the QS vendor and copy that. If you want to use an IV, build one, a custom ship, made from the same parts, does not count as an IV.
@goodguysfree2 күн бұрын
Interesting - that's very important to know. Thank you 🙏 And does the game let you clone an IV that you built from parts into / out of the expedition? I could try but it will take me a long time...
@Lordoftheapes792 күн бұрын
@goodguysfree yup. Basically, you can't have 2 cars with the same VIN. But, chop it up and rebuild it, and it gets a whole new VIN. I learned this all the hard way last week.

Sure you could. But those elements are useful for other things as well.

This is a great video but as someone who has never done an expedition, is the expedition really difficult?
@goodguysfree5 ай бұрын
Thank you! No, not very difficult. Just a bit. I think that especially people who have already played a bit but not a whole lot - they find that it's discouraging because it's like starting anew, and this video helps the most in such cases. People want to know how to gain the most in the shortest time. I am an NMS fanatic... I always play expeditions at least 2-4 times. Once from a saved game, and once as a new. And this twice once from my Steam copy and once from my Xbox copy.

@@goodguysfree thanks for the reply! Do you keep your stuff that you take with you when the expedition is over?
@goodguysfree5 ай бұрын
You don't automatically retain cargo and technology. You will have to pack up technology (on PC that's 'X' to take installed tech and pack it), then place it - and any cargo you like to move back to the save you started from - in the expedition terminal in the Anomaly, before you click on "Finish Expedition". I specifically mention this at 11:03 in the video...

I’m just gonna say expo kind of a let down I get bug feet but human thighs or bug hands but human arms or robot arms how does that make sense not only that what other rewards are there posters ???
@goodguysfree5 ай бұрын
Well, nobody says you have to use the rewards. There are plenty of rewards I received in past expeditions, that I don't use. Other rewards are the Mech parts - which let you change your mech to the new appearance and give it the flamethrower, and other parts. If you didn't enjoy the expedition - that's OK. Use whatever you have to explore the universe. Watch my videos to see some bases I built, and come visit them if you like. Or you can decide you hate the game and stop playing. But if you keep playing, I'm here to help.

@@goodguysfree thanks for responding I can’t say I didn’t enjoy expedition entirely but it just feels short on rewards compared to other expos and as go for the armor to me personally it just feels incomplete with the chitlin maybe it was overhyped for me maybe I expected too much bc prior to expo you were able to unlock like 5 or 6 bug helmets which led me to believe oh wow there could be a lot more to the armor, but I can understand that I don’t have to use the items but at the same time you want something new for Nms you want it even if you don’t need or ever use bc it’s something fresh maybe it bc I didn’t start Nms until the Singularity update and know that all the past expeditions I would say 1-8 could take ages or never come back so I feel I missed so much
@goodguysfree5 ай бұрын
@joeyjames4 I fully understand. The hype train before the expedition was running a thousand miles an hour, it was clear that it would crash, no? No worries, some of the past expedition rewards I can help you obtain, if you want. Find me on Discord (GoodGuysFree what else...) and DM.

@goodguysfree5 ай бұрын
@@HxppyPxp Not that I know of... I have a good friend playing PS5 who got plenty of stuff from me. The only possible issue is version difference. We recently saw that some platforms got a patch before others, making their version something like 5.0.2 and couldn't join the game of someone who was still on 5.0.1. You can also email me your friend code... Find my email address in the channel page.

Cloning means you font need gun and ship tech
@goodguysfree5 ай бұрын
That is absolutely right! My experience with the past 6 expeditions is that by the time you reach the Anomaly you usually have enough Nanites to clone a multitool, but usually not enough to clone a ship, and your ship by then is usually sufficient to advance, or you already found and claimed a ship. I think the more tech you have on your ship being cloned, the higher the cloning price, but I could not prove it. I will pin a comment on this video with this information. Thanks for commenting!
@jayedson34085 ай бұрын
@@goodguysfree I can confirm it does not increase the nanite cost. Adrift was still 2200 for multitool, 2800 for ship iirc.

NMS expeditions are getting half assed, there are typo's in every one that force you to waste hours unless you let everyone post on the subs what's wrong and what you have to actually do.(The latest it tells you to fish on a radioactive planet when your after anomalous fish which are on the redacted planet. Has nothing to do with radiation so you needlessly waste hours grinding suit buffs and slots, fishing and then throwing everything away because you have zero inventory space. Not everyone has hours to waste trying to get these done. Just shows that this game is copy pasted bullshit that no one in the studio bothers to read or test at all before posting. They can keep Light no fire, it will be a copy pasted trash just like NMS.
@goodguysfree2 ай бұрын
Sorry you feel that way, and thank you for sharing. Nobody is forcing you to play. I had a different experience. For example, Liquidators I played 5 times. The fishing expedition I played 3 times. But this new one? I'm finding it hard to bring myself to play, I must admit.
