I am building a 2004 144 Sprinter 3500. I am planning a trip on the Pan American. As well as touring Canada. Very inspiring conversations. My parents had a 1972 VW the same color as the boomerang with a low roof.

I loved van life while I did it for a few years... but then I went to an RV show and saw how much I was missing when it came to space, functionality, comfort, and how 99% of all the things I struggled with designing, making/purchasing and retro-fitting was not only figured out already, but done EXTREMELY well! But, I think I may be able to give up all the comforts of my small easily towable Jayco 154BH if I could travel with some SMOKIN' H0T women like these two! WOOOOOOO!

Didn't listen to the whole video before I made my last comment but the guy with the red hair made so much sense. I suspect that whatever he does in the future will be successful, solid attitude and well thought out. I'm much older and wish I had the presence of mind he does when I was that age. Well done and again, safe travels.

any weight pop top can be used with the right gas strut assisting. Older vehicles are better in many ways as they are usually much simpler to repair as less dependant on engine management devices.

As usual, great blog! Thanks for continuing on with these happenings in your lives. I’ve watched so many blogs you two have made I’ve lost count. Has to be well over a hundred I think. Always interesting, always informative, always a look into REAL van life. Personally, I love to go out by myself from time to time for all the reasons you talk about in this video, getting in touch with yourself again, getting your head screwed on straight again without all the outside influences and distractions. Vlogs such as yours are so entertaining the only thing I watch on TV these days is the weather! Hopping to get out on some short excursion this year. Love traveling and meeting people, seeing new places. Best to you.

Thank you. It is very good to seen the contrasting elements here, from a basic 2wd Kombi to a 90 (or so) Syncro. It really shows that we have to choose our own adventure. Become inspired but do it in our own way. Best wishes.

Good video that touches on a lot of topics. Thank you for posting it. One thing I find interesting is when he comments (around the 29 minute mark) that "we'll never have this opportunity again", because they're doing this in their 20's/30's. So does that mean people in their 40's, 50's or even 60's shouldn't even think about doing something like this? That the vanlife/nomadic lifestyle is for younger people only? I'm not trying to come across as snarky or anything, but that is how he makes it sound; that once you hit 40, then just forget it, because you've missed the opportunity. I'm honestly curious: does that mentality does exist in the vanlife/nomadic community?

Hi Ben, I am starting to look for a van to do some weekend trips in to begin. One of my constant thoughts is where you typically park the van overnight. I understand in remote locations like this beach you can park it there for free. What about locations where that land is not as easy to come by. More populated areas I guess. Do you find like a paid campsite?

Hey guys, LOVE your stuff. Have watched all of your videos getting to Alaska. Amazing. Oh and sorry for all your troubles (I say that as a gal with German background...feel somewhat responsible for the VW sh*tshow you guys had to go through). Then again, I think we all feel a weird affection for our VW vehicles, large or small, old or new. Now to the point I really wanted to get to: in your travels, do you young folk ever hang with the older crowd? I am retiring in 781 days, 176 minutes, lol, and with all your experience, I was wondering if you would be open to interviewing the 'grey' crowd? Remember, you'll get there eventually and you yourselves might pick up a point or two. ;-) Anyhow, love following you and wish you the most fantastic adventures life can offer. Greetings from Ontario, Canada.

Too bad there is no protection for the big old pup. Consider a crash-worthy harness and restraint, objects, especially dogs, in motion stay in motion in the event of hard stops or crashes. I can make a good recommendation if needed. All of my crew stay secure as it's worth it to not have a dog crashing into the dash, windshield, or other possible ways of injuring or killing these valuable companions.

Hi guys, my partner and I are about to embark upon a trek across Europe from the UK and into Turkey in our VW t25! Your videos are a really great help and inspiration for us, but I have a question that I can't find an answer too! What should I do with our expensive camera gear / laptops when we're not in the van? i don't want to carry it around with us all the time, but I am worried that if we leave it in the van in an isolated place it will be easy to break into and steal! Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks, Nick

That you can only do this in your 20's and 30's and that they'll never get this chance again is a very limiting belief system. You only lose your freedom when you believe you can't do something.
