Thank you for the helpful video! I start my MPH - Epidemiology program at Temple the end of August! Super excited plus nervous. I’m afraid that I’m gonna flunk out like I did with nursing school. The first month in I realized it wasn’t for me, between the lectures, lab and clinicals, it’s was very overwhelming and I couldn’t work! So I’m thankful that my program is online and will be more manageable and a little less overwhelming! Also, side note, has anyone ever told you that you look like Laura from Family Matters ❤

Accountability is so important in grad school! I had to rely on myself a lot, I found that the more I stayed organized, project planned, and effectively managed my time, the less stress I felt. The system I created for myself kept me accountable! :) I ended up graduated with my Master's in 1 year and with honors. You can do the same!! :)

I just got accepted into my Master’s program about 3 weeks ago and that’s exactly what I’ve been getting. Radio silence. As far as getting with an advisor to clear me to register for courses, ensuring my financial aid is going through to be able to register, and possibly looking into being a GA even though I had a full time job. Any advice is welcomed and appreciated! Thank you so much!

Congratulations on your acceptance!!! In my experience, faculty get really busy toward the end of the semester. In the spring and summer will be when you'll hear more from them. It may be helpful to reach out to a current grad student in your program to get a good idea of the timeline you can expect.

Thank you so much for the insight and wanting to help people! A tiny bit of constructive criticism though, you kind of talk in circles. You hit the same point 2 or 3 times before you actually convey what you're trying to say, and it can be very distracting. Just wanted to point that out for future videos! Much love, support, and thanks for your help in this journey!!

I have one question, I start grad school(chemistry PhD) in september but ive taken a year off and feel like ive forgotten a fair bit of what i learned. Do I you suggest i do some review over these couple months before going in?
@theacademicsociety
@theacademicsociety 3 жыл бұрын
I definitely recommend reviewing some materials. I would ask what classes a first year PhD student usually takes and brush up on the topics you've forgotten. You may be able to get some textbooks early too!

What is a good way of getting syllabuses before the term begins? Is just by contacting profs?
@theacademicsociety
@theacademicsociety 3 жыл бұрын
I would start with the person in the office to ask if they have a website/database of old syllabi. After that, I would contact the professor to ask if they could share the syllabus from last semester.
