Totally agree with what you said at the beginning of the video. When I was 15 I took a English language certification attesting a level B1. But I was so well prepared that I ended up getting a B2 level. Praticing with mock exams is a key step in the test preparation, because we get to encounter frequently used words/grammar structures in the exam, know exactly what to do for each part of the test and now what's expected from us. Congratulations on getting a C1 level on the test, hope to see you speak French in your videos now!

I just passed DELF/DALF b2 and also got my results at Christmas. I agree it’s the best Christmas gift ever! I spoke French fluently when I studied in Paris 10 years ago but haven’t used it much since then. I spent around 4 months working with a private tutor to brush up my listening and oral (weekly lessons of 1.5hr + homework). I also watched a lot of French KZbin videos 😂 so glad the qualification lasts for a lifetime

I just passed the DELF B1 and am aiming for B2 at the next round in June. The tests sound very similar! I studied in Paris twice during college and was a very confident speaker, but now I find I have a lot of anxiety around the language and it really impedes my motivation and ability to study well :/
@thedavidguy016 жыл бұрын
I think all of us learning a foreign language feel this anxiety. It's completely normal. In fact, the linguist Stephen Krashen has written extensively about this kind of stress "filter." I find it critical to not focus on mistakes. In other words, the worst thing you can do is try not to make mistakes. Just focus on the meaning of what you are trying to say, and don't think about grammar. If you have conversations with people in French ask them to correct you only after you have finished. If they interrupt you with corrections, it will cause you to stress and block.

Am wondering whether to go for C1, have always believed the TEF/TCF was slightly easier than the DELF. Do you think that's true? Guys! I took TCF and I got C2 in both comprehension parts, and C1 in both production parts. I'm still surprised, I was honestly expecting B2, maybe C1 in reading comprehension. What I did was: I already had an alright grammar foundation, so 90% of my studying for this test was listening, listening and listening like crazy. Important: my grammar is not perfect, I still make mistakes and hesitate and there are a lot of things I dont remember. So I kind of read the grammar (5% of my study time), and did practice speaking (5%). I studied for like 6 or 7 months before the test, 3 to 6 days a week. And I found listening content that I found interesting, so I it wasnt like "ugh, I have to study" but "let's see what this video is about, how cool." So yeah, bottom line: listen, listen, listen. (I also used TV5's videos and took 16 test models).

I once did a test on my French skills after one year of school lessons :'D today, I study French in University and it's really cool. I have a grammar class, and last time we did a conjugation test. Everybody else but me new about it, just I had not been warned. Anyway, I wasn't too nervous, I thought I could rely on my grammar skills. Unfortunately, we had to fill in the gaps of an excerpt of French literature. The mainpart of the verbs was first person passé simple, a tense we never learned at school and which I only knew from books. So I filled in the gaps with passé simple third person, hoping it might be the same form... well, now I know better than that. And thanks to your wonderful video about swearing, Rosie, I can at least properly complain about it in French :'D Really, that test was breaking my ovaries, putain! 😁

@helenanas136 жыл бұрын
That's not true..Our whole education system for foreign languages is based on it. For our Diplôme National du Brevet (national diploma before high school) we need to validate at least one foreign language at level A2 and for our French Baccalauréat (Général) our first foreign language (Langue Vivante 1- almost always English ) must be at a level of B2. (Baccalauréat is High School graduation level that allows you to enter uni) For University level it is C1. Of course, in France most people lose some of their English the minute they graduate from high-school, due to lack of practice, so only few people have a B2 level in English.

Hey guys, I am going to take the TCF or TEF in three months time for Canadian Immigration purposes. I studied french in high school about ten years ago but didnt practice or do anything with it after leaving high school, so I'm pretty much a newbie. I need your advice. Do I stick to youtube and udemy to learn french or will it be better to go to a french school?
