I thought I would see alot of comments on this video as people prepare for Irene. Good luck to all you boaters in NYC and LI as she approaches. We have had our fair share of them here in Florida, but it's easier for us because everything gets thinned out every year by a storm or two. It's been a while since you have had something like this one and the trees, shrubs, etc. will have lots of questionable branches and trunks for the storm to send flying. Stay inside and keep yourselves safe!!

By the way, I also suggest you double or tripple your lines when tying down for a hurricane. In 1992 Andrew, with tripple lines tie down, nothing was able to save our 31' Hunter sailboat. The power of water is beyond imagination.

Hey Eddie just noticed your videos. Those cockpit covers are expensive. If you plan to leave them on, I suggest you cris-cross lines from stern cleats to bow cleats or try to create a net of ropes over the cover so it won't rip and fly away. On my last hurricane warning in Fl., I did not think of it, took the cover off, taped the control panel and prayed. False alarm. But great videos, thanks for all the lessons!

I would also fire up the generator and transfer power to it. You will end up losing shore power and batteries will end up draining from bilge pumps

It's called a "Fender", not a "Bumper".

A fender is a protective device attached to the boat. A bumper is one attached to the dock. He called them both bumpers, so he is incorrect.

Its not a big deal. Nobody but you is offended but you by him calling it a bumper. Every boater would understand exactly what a bumper is, even it isn't the correct terminology.
