I drill 1.5mm holes in my new hyfax every 6" in diagonal 3's at an angle to catch snow. Before I install the skid to the frame I grease the holes I made, the grease gets exchanged with snow, that is one the tricks I use for low snow conditions😁

The great thing about the Timbersled with the 129" with 3" paddle is that the bike only cruises at 35 mph on the trail anyway and with the snowmobile reversible scratchers and their angle I get a crazy amount of snow flying under in the track compared to all the other bikers even in yesterday's essentially blue ice trail ride up

Great info Carl … I bet this is what happened to a mountain sled rider in another KZbin video I watched recently. A+++

How about they use a stock track that isn’t so weak? At times we need to ride some miles to get to the fresh. The knuckleheads driving 70 mph on a groomed trail deserve to blow lugs but it seems like the newer tracks are pretty cheap. Love your vids and tips. 🤘🏼

Way too many guys on the east coast with all their lugs bent in the shape of a letter J. They spend more time on trail than off. They have to buy that big powder sled for ego.

I bought a used Gen4 with a destroyed track. I ended up switching drivers and going to the old 174.

Awesome video! Do you think the new Ski Doo sliders with vespelinserts would stop some of this track overheat issue? They are expensive but tracks are REALLY expensive.

I don't remember this being an issue on the older T3 tracks? What changed?
@ElmerTbone-2 жыл бұрын
Nothing changed. Its always an issue with every deep lug track. Guys think they can go 70mph on firm snow with a 3 inch lugs and everything should be fine.

@Elmer T-Bone Agreed. Although I have 1 ride on my 2022 in a deep snow day with basically no trail riding and one side of my track is already showing signs of wear and tear, my 21 was the same. I put 5000km on my 2014 and it is in better shape.

Was an issue on the xm with 2.5” as well. IMO it has to do with the fibreglass rods not extending to the edge of the track for the flex edge as it always seems to be the spot that let’s go. Also seems to be a problem with the doo’s more so than other brands. I had 2 doo’s with the exact issue and 2 polaris and a cat with similar track sizes and usage and no issues. Not hating any brand just my experience. Every manufacturer has good and bad aspects to their sleds. I bet the 2023 without flex edge won’t have as many tracks falling apart! Also it can be replaced under warranty depending on your dealer and how hard they will fight BRP for their customers.

I know a lot of numbnuts out here in Ontario with Summit's that could really use this information lol

Same thing in NL, everyone wants a mountain sled to trail ride and complains about lugs flying off. I learned my lesson.
