I believe the "Going back to work as though nothing happened" was based on a real-life experience Larry David had. I think he actually tried that once, after quitting a great job and then realizing he'd made a huge mistake. Returning to the job as though nothing happened would take a level of audacity beyond my ability to even imagine.
