Just get the large dehumidifier and you will be happy. Trying to save money on the small dehumidifiers you will just be unhappy with them. I run a large dehumidifier in my RV and take long hot showers and no problem at all with moisture in the RV. Great video keep up the good work. Without a dehumidifier you will have mold ,mildew and rot problems in the right conditions.

Hi, we are launching tomorrow. Our rig is 33 ft. Do we need a large dehumidifier? Or is the small one ok?
@hardtruth20394 жыл бұрын
By one for 1500 square feet while you are on power or buy a couple of the Dry-Z-Air refillable containers.

You are exactly right. Those smaller units won't do nothing. And in Florida or Alabama humidity they are not going to work.. Ask me how I know... Waste of money

This summer in the Pacific Northwest I kept absolutely everything open... Driving cab windows, house windows and ceiling vents. Even the door was secured open most of the time. Yes it amounted to a lot of dust but I did not have to worry about condensation buildup. Last winter I avoided extreme interior condensation by simply not heating the interior space. I simply dressed warmer most days, most hours. Microfiber blankets are ideal for allowing body moisture to evaporate into the surrounding air rather than staying trapped on the warm human body and in the bedding. Microfiber blankets can also be refashioned into housecoats and jumpsuits. They are lightweight and keep one warm while also keeping one dry.

We just started full-time 6 months ago. We have three of the medium sized ones and they worked great during the summer. Now it's colder they didn't cut it. We just purchased a 50pt dehumidifier and like u said it was almost instantly. A hour later you can feel the difference and no more condensation on windows

My wife and I lived in our camper in SW Virginia a few years ago while on a project there. We always cracked the vent and turned on the fans while we showered. Also had a hygrometer similar to the one in the video to monitor. We vented if we the humidity in the camper got too high. We also bought in Eden Pure heater for our main source of heat. Along with the furnace, we stayed warm and toasty. The Eden Pure couldn't keep up when it got really cold (we had several days of sub-zero temps) but it would work well into the night and the furnace typically didn't kick in until the wee hours of the morning. This saved my propane as well. We have an EvaDry like was in the video but now live in teh Florida Panhandle and just bought a new camper. The humidity the last few days has been at 98-99%! The little one helps, but not much. I'll buy a big one and put in there.

Bicarbonate of soda mixed with water makes a great scrub for those mould areas. It prevents the moulds return for ages too.

Great Stuff: Important Tips: And no. I tip against condensation: Proper ventilation and increased airflow through the RV! Plus: a humidity gauge as you say. Helps you determine if you need to do more than just ventilation!

I began the rv living lifestyle about the start of the year, Feb. 7th, 2023. But right now it's getting cold and a lot of rain coming through. I noticed my bathroom was starting to show signs of mold, and my back bedroom and other spots. I had one of those tiny dehumidifiers in there, sure it'd fill with water, and like you guys, I thought that was okay and just went with it. I had a big unit in my shopping cart last night, but I put it back saying maybe next time, let me research some first. I'm going to go buy it tomorrow, because this mold is looking to become a problem I got to fix quickly.
@joeyuno38462 жыл бұрын
Exactly, a medium to large dehumidifier is the way to go..and a humidity gauge is a must. Of note, if the ambient temperature is 70 or below, a 50% humidty reading is acceptable.

I looked at a BRAND USED RPOD 179 today in Ellijay Ga. She bought it brand new in 2015 and used it one time. She is absolutely correct it looks almost brand new with the exception of the white mold spores coated throughout the inside of the RPOD. Such a shame. She just threw $18,000 out the window By not hooking up a dehumidifier

The combustion air from the propane furnace is completely vented outside Your RV and will not cause more moisture inside your RV. It’s the same as using electric space heaters. Use of the the propane stove or oven will cause more moisture inside your RV however.
@TheChicksLife4 жыл бұрын
Really? I have read differently, but you may very well be correct! Do you have an article or blog that touches on that? I would love to educate myself. Thanks Kelly!
@RV_with_Noni_and_Beard4 жыл бұрын
I agree with Kelly. If your propane furnace is causing humidity inside your trailer, it is not venting properly. This is potentially very dangerous (carbon monoxide) and needs to be fixed. Don't confuse a propane furnace (typically built into the RV) with a propane heater (such as a Buddy heater) which does not vent outside and therefore introduces LOTS of moisture.
@kellyyoung1244 жыл бұрын
It may seem like the furnace is increasing the moisture but it’s not. It heats a much greater volume of air than an electric space heater can and your furnace is putting out 20-30K BTU where a 1800 watt space heater is only putting out 6100 BTU. So the air is being headed more rapidly and the condensation appears much faster.
@dedobias2 жыл бұрын
Propane portsble heaters add moisture. A furnace DOES NOT.
@dedobias2 жыл бұрын
Add a portable propane also adds CO and the traiker must be vented with cracked open window. Make sure your CO detector works. If your furnace is emitting CO, something is wrong with it.

I wish you had made this video 6 or 7 months ago! My husband and I are at the end of a workaming job in Lincoln City, OR and the entire time we have been here we have been battling moisture and mold, and it's our first year full time! We went from damprid to 30pt dehumidifier (same size as the big one you have) in about a month because it was SO HUMID! Being from Nebraska, we had no idea that winter could be this humid lol. Thanks for the video and can't wait for the next one!

I don't think it's about large, medium or small. It's the TYPE of dehumidifier. Compressor dehumidifier are best. The goal is to find the smallest compressor type dehumidifier that can dial in your desired Relative Humidity # and drain from a hose running it outside.

The only thing I am really curious about is what options are there for off grid energy efficient dehumidifiers. My girlfriend is having some serious health issues and I just realized we have a lot of mold on our windows. Going to be resourcing this topic more. Currently we are plugged into shore power. Anny thoughts welcome! Thanks for the fun and informative video!

Actually you could buy 2 or 3 little ones.... Run them at the same time... My daughter just bought one for her closet... With in two hours it pulled half a cup of water... What is great is that the little ones only pull about 21 watts..... So about 63 watts with 3 is now bad...

this couldn’t have come at a better time. my husband & i are currently living in our fifth wheel in the PNW. we noticed some mold under the couches when the kids came for christmas. we thought crumbs got down there or a drink spilled. cleaned it & moved on. fast forward to now as im reorganizing our closet i take my shoes out and a few are covered in mold 🤮. we got the dry gel things and put them all over. so now im wondering how many should i use of the medium sz containers in those areas? im ordering that big dehumidifier right now, do i need to keep the doors open in order for it to keep all those areas and rooms dry? also we are leaving on vacation for 2weeks, does the dehumidifier do its job if our heat is off? any other suggestions would be much appreciated! this is our first winter in an rv, we’ve camped a ton but always in the summer ( which is beautiful btw if you haven’t been here then id recommend it, specially the coast)

When you are in a warm and humid climate, doesn't running your AC control the humidity?
@TheChicksLife4 жыл бұрын
Yes that is correct. An ac unit will help dehumidifier the air. But not near as well a full size dehumidifier.

I spend a lot of time in Florida and the AC is not enough to control the humidity and if you use your shower a large dehumidifier is a must.
