Guys I've been here before. Let me help you: I used 6mm2 cable to connect the fridge to a fuzebox with a 10 A fuze. If you use bigger wire, that is fine. But if you go to 10mm2 you will have trouble connecting it to standard fuze boxes. Fuzebox is connected directly to the battery.

Perfect fit in my van' doghouse between the two front captains chair seats mounted on a slide out base to allow seats to turn around & get doghouse off. I'll put a removable cover with heat vent over the utilities on the top back.

Question, when you unplugged the supplied cables at the back of the fridge to replace with your own, on the positive that you removed is attached another power feed? A red cable? Do you know what I mean? I need to know if that cable is important or not? Many thanks.

I thought best practice is to store gas outside the vehicle in a bracket or a fancy compartment cut into a side panel?Vehicles heat up to 1million degrees in Australian summer . Vehicles also need a Australian safety standards gas certificate to pass rego inspection if plumbed in . Don't worry about me , I'm not at all qualified for any thing and my Van is on blocks out back of my Mumsys yard . She always yelling " get that rusty piece of garbage out of my pumpkin patch" she beats on the side when I'm sleeping in. Don't worry mum I'll do it tommmoorooow I scream . She kicks the door and throws boiling water on me if I don't get up before 4pm on a weekday. Pandy lock down has got me spinning some Hella comments . Sorry ,cheers

Quick question (which Luke's Van Life asked but couldn't find a reply), does the positive from the battery with the piggy back connector on it, also fit onto 3rd terminal down (+), as it doesn't look like it fits? Took the cables off to replace with 6mm cable, not expecting them to be joined! Cheers

@ktd2956
@ktd2956 11 ай бұрын
Hi. You would be best using 6mm 17A cable. There is much less voltage drop with the larger cable,the smaller cable will cause the fridge to frequently turn itself off. A 10A fuse is best. the manual will probably say 5A,but I've found that this will frequently blow. Hope this helps.

i lived in a van for 8 years and had neither of those things and never had a problem. Gas specifications are there for a reason and i know that and i had an air vent in the original place for my tank (in a wooden cupboard and not sealed) then i moved it to next to the kitchen and like i said never had an issue. Hi KevGermany. We mentioned in the video regarding the stoppers at the back of the frisge unit allowing air to pass by. The cooling fins. The furniture in this case has a large air gap surrounding the sides and rear of the fridge unit and the feet allow cool air to to travel in from the front.
@kevgermany
@kevgermany 4 жыл бұрын
@@CombeValleyCampers thanks, I did see the buffers at the back. Wasn't clear to me how much space for air inlet once finished. But what is still unclear is how the hot air is supposed to get out from the back. Reason I ask is that my house fridge has a similar built in fitting. Works fine in winter, but as soon as summer comes, there isn't enough airflow to let the warm air out from behind. Was guessing this may be an issue with camper fridges. I half thought about using a pc fan as an extractor wired to come on when the compressor kick in. Or does your experience say I'm worrying unnecessarily as far as campers are concerned?
@fraserhardmetal7143
@fraserhardmetal7143 4 жыл бұрын
The better the airflow the more efficiently the fridge will operate. I would make sure a good natural air convection is ensured in the installation i.e. a reasonable air gap at least at the base and back of the unit , with means for the warm air to ventilate above the fridge. Dependant on ambient temperature, contents and rate of door opening/closing, I would fit a thermostatically controlled mini fan , positioned to blow air across the condenser coil/motor. During hot weather, combined with a tight installation, the fridge can struggle to maintain an acceptable temperature - particularly if spending time in southern Europe.
